Hello from Portland
My fiance and I just had our first child on August 10th and are adjusting to living on one income. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning with others on this forum, especially on how to eliminate debt, as that is where most of our income goes. We also used to spend a lot on eating out, but now I am planning meals and cooking from scratch at home.
One question I have: is there a place to see what all of the abbreviations that people use mean? I think I've figured out that BS1, BS2, etc... stand for Dave Ramsey's baby steps, and I've got a handle on DD, DS and DH.

to FV! There are alot of abbreviations we use, and from the looks of it, you have the basic ones already.
DSD = Dear Step Daughter
DSS - Dear Step Son
DGD - Dear Grand Daughter
and so on ...

This may be overkill but here is a link to a huge database of abbreviations.

@HisDaisy: I'm sure you'll love living in Eugene! Especially if you are the outdoorsy type, enjoy college sports and are a fan of green living

@FrugalMomOf3 and PrairieRose: Thanks for the tips on the abbreviations! I'm starting to figure some out on my own - EF is Emergency Fund??

We can't really afford it either, but we're from here. We've thought about moving elsewhere, but there are too many things that we would miss. It seems like we'll never be able to afford a house if we stay here though and we've tossed around the idea of someday moving to Colorado.
Whereabouts in Texas are you? My in-laws live just outside of San Antonio.

Hi and Welcome from the Columbia River Gorge!!
I sure wouldn't want to be trying to buy a house right now. Our first house cost what new car costs now. And don't even think about property taxes.
