Snookered
Good gracious, I get suckered into EVERYTHING. Some guy just knocked on my door wanting to sell me some kind of cleaner that is supposedly awesome and it goes to benefit inner city school kids.
2 bottles=75$.
HOW STUPID AM I? Luckily for me, he is coming back to swap out a bottle for the one I preferred and I'm going to tell him to cancel it and give me my money back. The receipt says I have 3 days to cancel.

I hope he comes back.
I don't think I could hand over $75 to anyone knocking on my door...
The neighborhood kids don't even bother knocking... "NO... don't go there, she's mean... she never buys anything unless it's chocolate". I have them trained
All joking aside, some 'sales people' can weave a beautiful tale that you can almost see the strings pulling at your heart... and your wallet.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

The cleaner isn't Personal Touch is it? About two years ago a guy came by selling that. I don't think it was $75 though. At least you have an out and can return it.

IT was called advanage. I tried it and about had an asthma attack.
Got my check back BUT--my neighbor noticed the guys engaging in some suscipicious behavior--scoping out houses, walking around the back, etc. When my neighbor came out to talk to me when they were giving me my money back, they copped attitude with him, and as they drove away, they drove up into his yard.
They have driven back by the house a time or two. I'm going to sleep downstairs with a light on and my revolver.McD

I'm glad you got your money back. But that sounds scary that they are scoping out houses and such.

Glad you got your money back. I once bought some steaks ($200) from a guy with a freezer in the back of his truck. The old..."We supply the local restaraunts and have some overstock for a good price" routine. I fell for it, DH 'bout had a stroke! A month later the guy came back to try again.....DH told him to leave, he kept talking, so DH chased him down the sidewalk, lol.

Oh gal, I feel your pain. I am such a sucker as well, to combat it, I just never open the door. Especially if it is a kid selling something. UGH. I have such a hard time saying no.
Glad you got your money back. I would be a bit freaked out by their behavior, but maybe the fact that your neighbor was a bit suspicious will keep any bad behavior far away from you.

Neighbor called the cops earlier on them when he noticed them snooping. Hubby is currently going thru the police academy for our city and since the department knows he is gone, they drive by about every hour to keep an eye on the house for him. Apparently it's a police courtesy for new hires...?.

I'm SO glad I read this post earlier. Today 3 little girls --clearly hoodlums-- came to my door trying to sell chocolate and cookie dough, of all things.

Luckily I saw right though their little farce and sent them packin'. There's no telling how they planned to take advantage of my kindliness.
That would freak me out though. I'm seriously considering buying a handgun because the man is gone now literally months out of the year. A few weeks ago we had some guy stop at my house at 2am, knock on the door, and ask for DIRECTIONS. To a street that was like 50 feet away. Seriously.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

My husband answered the door that time. It's a good thing too, because I would have either wet myself, or greeted him with a baseball bat to the face. But in his defense, my fil and husband were sitting in the front room with the tv on and the windows open. We were obviously home and awake. I don't know. It still kinda makes me nervous and I wonder if he might have been scoping the place out.
