Seeing other people do wonderful works or charity on their own, with their own idea's.......I usually end up in tears.

~I think humility is the absence of selfish pride. It's knowing that everything isn't about you. It's being able to graciously accept the good and the bad in life whether or not you were the one who brought it upon yourself. It's being able to apologize with sincerity and with a willing heart to do better.~

Ahhhhh man! PerSue! Just when I was getting to be proud of being humble..........

You ask a tough question, but I enjoy questions that make me really think.

Humility is what I feel when I receive grace and mercy that I do not deserve, and have never earned. As another poster mentioned, my Lord and Savior died for me and I did not deserve it.

When I am brought down off my high horse, thinking that I have it made, and then learning that I do not..... that is humility. It's an experience of putting me where I belong, of bursting my artificial and irrelevant bubbles.

Here's an example: There is a man in my small group Bible study who is mentally challenged. He has the abilities of a 3 year old. One time I was feeling pretty good about how the study was going. And it was time for us to pray. Usually this particular man in the study said nothing. This time, after the long and sometimes elaborate prayers (nothing wrong with them, just long and elaborate), this man suddenly spoke. "I love you," were his only words. Right then, I had tears come. This man with such limited ability had caught the essence of our study and prayer. It was all about love and I had been so busy that I missed it. Humble.....

PerSue, I should continue to explore this more. What I have written is not adequate. But I thank you for asking.
    Spiritual:
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.

    Financial:
Debt free, hoping to stay that way!

    Being humble -

I love to serve others with the love of Christ....but I love to do it behind the scenes (so that I am not saying "look at me")

doing things for Jesus, but making sure that Christ gets the credit - not me!

(as always forHISglory, you are FAR more eloquent than I could ever dream of being!)
