Make me feel better please.
Ok what is one of the dumbest stupidest things you have ever done?
Today I broke one of the 1st rules of backing a car out of the garage. I backed into the closed garage door and crumpled it like a piece of paper. Cost of new door $500 cost of fixing scratches on car? Feeling like
Wait until hubby gets home & sees it. I already called him & he wasnt happy. I told him I was sorry and I threw in the fact that in 24 years I haven't done anything like this. He better cool off before he get's home, geesh I feel bad enough already.
What about you?Last edited by Darlene; 10-04-2008 at 11:51 AM.

I backed into a tree while backing out of our driveway.
Wesley said what was that! I said nothing Wesley! I got back in the car after inspecting the damage and he CHEERFULLY informed me, "Mommy, you hit dat tree." I denied it and he replied, "Yes you sure did. You hit dat tree."

While living in an apartment, I backed out of my carport, turned the wheel WAY too soon, and rammed the wooden support pole. It snapped in two. The complex didn't make me pay for it, but the damage to my car was $1000 which we totally didn't have at the time.

I backed into the curb one day and popped the tire on the spot, had to run to get a brand new tire and alignment so my point is we all make mistakes, he will get over it.

I locked my keys in a running car... twice... the same day...
Had the guy come to let me in the first time... reached in to get my purse, paid him and sent him on my way... realized AFTER he left that the door was closed...AGAIN!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Oh no! I am so sorry this happened to you, Darlene. Don't feel so bad. It happens to us all at one time or another. We only had DH's new truck 2 weeks when I backed out into the street right in front of an oncoming car. Sure enough we hit and I did over $3000 damage to his truck and totalled his car. :pullhair:
Hopefully, your DH will be calm by the time he gets home.~*Michelle*~

Mine was also while backing out of the garage....
We had just got our BRAND NEW van just a month or so prior. I wasn't used to driving something so big. Plus our driveway was shaped like an "L" so you had to turn almost as soon as you were out of the garage. Well, I turned too soon and pulled off the bumper, the headlight and broke the frame of the garage doorway. Ouch!
Oh and my MIL once sat on the garage door opener while she was backing out....the garage door closed on the rear window and crushed the roof of the car.

Well, I don't have a garage story of my own to tell, but I'll tell on the rest of my DFamily...LOL!! My DD17 backed my car into the garage door. She swears she saw me push the button and open it. My DD18 ran into the garage door with her car. Both DDs park outside of the garage and she thought she still had some room and she pressed the gas too hard and ran into the front of the garage door. This was not the same door DD17 ran into. So we have 2 dented garage doors. We have yet to replace them. The dents aren't too bad. Now, my DH, backed into the garage and backed too far and the trailer hitch on his truck made a hole in the wall. If he hadn't stopped, he would have been in my kitchen! Some things you just have to see some humor and laugh about it and be glad that it wasn't any worse than it was.

Been there done that. Mine was pissed off at first. When he got home he just started fixing it. He doesn't let me forget it.

Thanks for telling me your tales. It just really sucks. Moments before I was contemplating not going, I should have listened to that little voice. Showed it to my neighbor and she was glad it was the door, not the car but she did cringe as she said "that's not too bad" she's not a good liar. The door is so bad there is no way it's going to open. Another neighbor told me a story about how when dating her now husband (he worked for a convenience store) well she backed right into the gas pumps where he worked. She said she was so embarassed.
Called dd and told her what I did, she's going to give her dad a call and give him a pep talk.

I have too many "dumb" moments to list. I sometimes wonder where my head is. I'm sorry to hear about your incident, I can all too well relate.
I guess if I have to name one.....I was leaving work late and was rushing to get to daycare to pick up my ds (if I was late I was charged a late fee) I knew I was low on gas, but thought I could make it..........
You guessed it, I ran out. I had to walk to a nearby house to phone hubby and ask him to bring me some gas. Talk about being dumb, he brings it up every now and then. And by the way, she charged me the late fee

Just chaulk it up to a lesson learned, and now you'll always remember to double check the garage door!
