I heard this last night and it is so sad. DH and I are having a hard time with everything and I've caught him making comments on how he'd be better off dead. Scares me sometimes. We talk about it, and about him seeing someone but he says he's ok.... just letting off steam.... I've found that when we just sit and talk about things, he does alot better.

I think it's wrong to blame the economy for what this man did. How could you even think about harming your loved ones? Yes, the man obviously had problems, but so does some psycho who kills a stranger. Do we make excuses for this type of person as well? So sad for anyone who was close to this family. What a horrible thing to have to cope with.

All of these stories are horrible.

That is just so sad. It is terrible that he killed his entire family. I understand the feelings of hopelessness that come with not working, but there is no reason for anyone to kill innocent children!

In California, we have cases every few weeks. It is very prevalent in Korean families. Like they loose face by loosing their house or job. Every time we see it in the paper. We wonder what is wrong in their culture that they would kill their whole family, just because of pride.

I was thinking that it had something to do with culture and pride as well. I know that in Indian culture, like many Asian cultures, family honor is the most important thing. He probably felt that by being unemployed he was dishonoring his family, and could no longer handle that. That doesn't excuse it, though. I think it makes the whole situation all the more sad.
