I agree the economy played a huge part in this but to commit murder, that's just wrong and now that I think about it.... he killed his children, his wife and his mother in law, he should have just committed suicide without taking others with him.

You know, after every bad spell their comes a good, he should have just explained his situation and he would have gotten help somewhere, it's a shame people go to such drastic measures.

This lead me to ask DH how he was dealing with our situation. He's been out of work for a year now. He said not to worry he wasn't going to do anything rash like that and knew we'd come out of this down the road.

I local man robbed a bank because he lost his job and couldn't find another one. He has a wife and 5 children. This was normally a good man who has no criminal record. He told reporters he just didn't know what else to do.

It's getting scary, I worry not only about my own husband employment but about our friends and family as well. Hopefully if anything did happen we could all help eachother.

I made a comment about this in an entire new thread last night and included the video of the CEO who got paid nearly $500 million for a company that had to be seized by the government.

This is just terrible!! I hope that anyone else in this position(out of work) can realize that things can get better. And at least talk to someone if they start feeling down and out.

    God Bless them all!!

    Oh, it was a solution.

It was a BAD solution - but it was a solution...

He's got no money worries anymore, after all...

But geez, this is sick, and giving him an excuse of the economy (which is my take on what the media is doing) is just pathetic on top of sick.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

    Unhappy

Very sad situation. This man must have felt very desparate. That still gives him no reason to kill his family. He should have sought some type of help, assistance, change his lifestyle, anything but what he chose.

I heard about this, this morning. Yesterday they reported an elderly woman shot herself as sheriff deputies were coming to evict her from her home. Apparently the mortage company has agreed to let the woman stay in her home now. I am trying to stay more in tune to the news now. This type of news is so heart wrenching, unfortunately it will probably be on the news for a while.

This is unbearably sad but this guy was unstable no matter what the economy. If it hadn't been that it would have been something else.

It was a violent act by a coward. To murder your own family, your children, is a despicable cop out.Sounds like John List.
