Merced? Get Out!!!!
No way,....I was actually born there too!!
My grandparents lived there all my life, so we visited often, I feel like I grew up there, cause I was there all the time. I lived up and down the an Juaquian valley till I was 12 and we moved to Olympia, WA. I knew my hubby as a kid in Merced..I lived there from 79-82. We got married in 92, lived in Merced/Los Banos till we moved to the midwest in 96. We lived in Chico for a few years too. like 03-05.....sorry, but I cannot STAND CA, and while hubby keeps trying to go back, I keep trying to keep us out!!
I'm 38, how old is your dh? I wonder if our paths ever crossed?
Are you near Vons? do they still double? how I miss Trader Joes!
Here's another book to read:
The Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dycyzyn....or something like that

Well howdy from one newbie to another. I grew up in Chicago, the oldest of 5 girls with a stay at home mom...so we knew frugal but still enjoyed life. Thanks to that upringing it isn't hard for me to cut back when needed. I joined Fvillage because I need support to keep me on the straight and narrow. I had already paid off my credit card once this year and ran it up quickly with "emotional" purchases.
Nice to meet you!
