Found money

We got a rebate back on Thursday that we had forgotten about.
We get them every year or so. (star tax proram $400.00)
We went shopping at Aldis and we are stocked for at least 3 months.
Will only have to buy milk, eggs, and fresh produce and bread.
Plus we paid for our wedding venue . (had most of the money all saved )

Glad you are enjoying yours. I just picked mine up at the po a few minutes ago. I don't consider it found money though, I wish they didn't confiscate it in the first place. NY Taxes really are something and I was reading that our county tax is due to "skyrocket" in '09. Joy

No wonder every 3 out of 4 houses around here are for sale .

I got mine about a week or so ago. I divided the money in half and put some in each of the kid's bank accounts. That way, I won't use it for something I don't NEED. Although, good for you for getting all the groceries you will need for 3 months. WOW.

I was talking about the Star rebates with the principle from my son's school and he said that another principle tha the knew calculated that in that principles school district, if they would have taken those star rebates and given that money directly to the school district, than the tax levey in that distric would go down a few % points. However, that year, it had to go UP 4%. Not sure how accurate it is, but it kind of made some sense to me that the school tax should go to the schools. Where exactly is the rebate coming from when our schools need so much?

I am so happy for you Holly. Found money is great. I had a found money experience once also. I was away from home, and I put a hundred dollar bill into my wallet, hidden away. I was frightened that I would be without money in a strange place. I totally forgot about it being there and about six months later I was going through my wallet and found it! It was at Christmas time! I know how you feel!

Lucky you! We have been searching for all kinds of ways to cut our bills. We did find some "lost money" after going through a post here on FV.

Isn't that an awesome feeling. We got our escrow refund last week. We were able to pay off one of our bills with it.

Hello fellow New Yorkers and yes I got my star rebate also. I have to agree about NYS taxes and that every other person is selling and getting out. I have used mine for groceries also and gas for the cars. Have a good week.
