Default DH's physical fitness test for police

Well, as some of you may recall, my DH is trying to join the police department here in our city. A little over a month ago, he took the written exam and did well. They called him back to do the physical fitness portion and he's at the police academy today doing just that. He's worked very hard to prepare for this so, for his sake, I hope he passes. Please keep your fingers crossed for him.He had the running and push-ups down, but the sit ups have been kicking his rear. He finally consulted a neighbor down the street who is a cop and figured out that his breathing and method had been all wrong while he was performing the sit ups. If he fails any section today he can go back on Nov. 1st to try again. I'm hoping he is able to pass everything today and won't have to go back again.

I just heard from him and he passed everything but the sit up portion of the test. He was supposed to do 27 in a minute and only did 26. He'll go back on Nov. 1st and redo just the sit ups. Thanks for your well-wishes.

Sorry...that stinks only by one freakin sit-up..We have town cops in my area who couldn't do1 sit-up let alone 27 of them would probably kill them.. I can't stand seeing a fat bodied police officer who represent's our town or county who couldn't run 100 feet if they tried okay off of my rant now.. I personally think they should of let that one slide and passed him.. Well at least you know he will pass the next time.. poor guy.

I agree with Brenda. I see so many that I know could not pass it now if they had to do it again. Seems to me it should be passed every few years or so. Good luck to your husband on the 1st. I'm sure he'll pass this time!

Does he have to re-take the whole physical fitness portion of the test or just the sit-ups? I bet by Nov. he will be doing more than the amount he needs because he sounds determined.

All he has to do on Nov. 1st will be the sit ups since he passed all the rest. I'm sure he'll get it this next time. Only one sit up off--geez! Thanks for all your posts, everyone.

Yep, in the police department here the only requalification they have after they get out of the academy is a yearly fire arms test. The lack of yearly qualification for physical fitness is pretty apparent with some of the cops I've seen around here too.
