Thumbs up Layaway making a comeback...

my mother mentioned she heard this the other day and I thought I would post what I found ( sorry, I was unable to post the Wall Street Journal article I found as I don't have 15 posts yet, but perhaps if you Google layaway and news, you can find it) . People can't get credit and the stores need to sell. Take care and God bless.

KMart still does layaway. DH is talking about putting Rock Band for Wii on layaway. I might go to Kmart and look at stuff. Closest Kmart is 40 miles away.

I heard it on the news this morning. I always used our Kmart layaway when we still had a Kmart. It bothered me when WalMart went to only 2 months instead of 3, I haven't used theirs since so I don't know how long their layaway is anymore. Personally I think it's a great idea to have more stores bring back their layaway departments, it seems to me it would end the "gotta have it right now even though I don't have the cash" way of thinking that helped get everyone into the financial problems we are facing. It's far better to pay on something with cash and wait 2 or 3 months to get it than have that debt with interest hanging over your head.

Our Walmarts don't even do Layaway anymore. I am going to put some things on layaway at the first of next month at kmart. I think Layaway is a great thing.

I think this is really going to boost Kmart's sales. Good for them!

I told dh the other day that I bet Walmart is really kicking themselves for doing away with Layaway LOL. They'd make a killing with it right now.

I think I'm going to Kmart tomorrow and put gifts for the nieces and nephews on layaway. I have 17 of them to buy for (19 in all but don't buy for the oldest two) and it gets really expensive. I need to call my sister and get an idea of what to get for her seven that would be within my budget.

Yeah I think that Layaway is a very good thing. I always like using it so I don't have to hide the presents til before Christmas. I saw that commercial for kmart, I'm glad for KMart hope they get lots of business.

I wouldn't have gotten by, back when our kids were growing up, without layaway.

I use Kmart layaway at "back to school" and "Christmas" times. Ours even lets you put clearanced items on layaway!

Our Wal-mart did away with layaway last year before Christmas. What a big mistake!! I know people would usually be lined up for hours around Christmas putting items in and taking items out. I have been seeing the commercials on tv about KMart having layaway again (here anyway). The closest one to us is about 35 miles away and I am thinking I might just go put a few items on layaway for the boys. Wonder if they will let you put a Wii in layaway? Anyone know?

Just be careful using lay-a-way for items that are hard to find. I've heard horror stories of folks that went to pick-up, and the item couldn't be found
