Credit Card scams! I don't know if it has anything to do with the time of the year (close to the holidays) or what, but there are a number of credit card scams going on. Here in our local area there is one going on right now that the caller calls and says your card is no longer any good. They will help you fix it if you will just put in the number of you card. I just talked to the local Credit Union and they are aware this is going on, but I did have the phone number of who ever it was that called here....thanks to caller ID. The local police are working on it and have already set up a data base. I just wanted to warn you that this is really a problem this time of the year so be warned to take extra care this time of year. It does pay to call the bank or credit union if you have any of these calls as they can flag your account and watch for problems.

This happened to my parents. They got a call supposedly from the bank saying their debit card wasn't valid and to call a number to fix it. My dad called the bank directly instead and was told it was a scam and not them.

With the economy the way it is I expect it to happen not only around the holidays now. Some people are just pure evil aren't they?

Gah, it seems like I have to be on my toes all the time! So why don't my calves look more toned? But seriously, I had someone "guess" my credit card number last year, get this, while I was in the hospital!

We got it all cleared up, but SHESH.

Thanks for the reminder, it is nice to have a community to come to where people will help "look out" for each other.

You not only that but we had 2 different pizza drivers get robbed already. Two different companies but still you have to be really careful these days.

Banks aren't loaning to people as easily as before.... right now, if your credit is marginal it isn't easy to get a credit card (or car loan, or anything). So it's a good market for scammers
