    Default 1 bottle lasted 14 months !!!!!

One bottle of laundry detergent lasted me 14 months. YES 14 MONTHS!!!!

I do have a front loader machine.

On September 9, 2007 I started a 300 oz bottle of Tide. It says you are to get 72 loads out of the 300 oz. I got 380 loads out of it.
What I did is refill some 32 oz Small All and Mighty bottles and use only 1/2 cap full. I averaged 40 loads per bottle and did an average of 27 loads per month or 6-7 loads per week.
I paid $5.99 for it after sale and coupon. It comes out to about a cent and a 1/2 a load.
I still have another 300 oz jug.
I also have a 80 load box of Gain powdered detergent that I am going to use next.
I am going to use a 1/8 cup to start with and see how well it cleans. If it works with this amount I should get about 320 loads out of it and it should last me about a year.
When I run out in about 2 + years I want to start making my own.

Thats the same cost or less then the cost of using homemade laundry soap without the hassle of making the soap. I would just keep using the store bought if I was you.

WOW! That is awesome! That is a huge savings on laundry detergent, especially if you wash a lot of laundry.

No, front loaders use much less soap!

I've never analyzed my detergent usage but I do know my Tide bottle lasts a long long time. I think I'll keep track when I get another bottle just for kicks. I too use much less than they say to use, even if I have the HE which is already cut down some.

Ummm... okay I have to ask... because... well, I'm intrigued...lol

Do you just have so many clothes that you don't have to wash weekly? If I don't do laundry at least once a week (approximately 6 loads or so...) I run out of socks and underwear... What's your secret?
