    Default What a jerk!!!!!

I have been Christmas shopping. I have several adult nephews who are Grey Goose vodka fans. That stuff is too pricey for my taste but thats another story. I wanted a bottle for each one. It's an easy gift and I know they will love it.

I decided to call the liquor stores in the town I work in for prices. 7 stores kindly gave me the price. Here is the conversation with the 8th store.

Me " Hello, I'd like to know the price you sell Grey Goose 750 ML for please"

Him (very snotty) "We don't quote prices on the phone!!"

Me "Could you please make an exception. I need several bottles and would like to know your price before I drive the 30 miles to your store"

Him (snotty again) " Any one who drinks Grey Goose already knows the price and it is expensive"

Me " I need several bottles as gifts. I do not drink it. Therefore I do not know what it costs"

Him (snotty) " No one driving 30 miles in their right mind would bother to check the price. Who cares about a $1 or $2 difference.

Me " I do as I am buying several bottles. You have now lost a potential sale of 5 bottles because frankly you are acting like a jerk and I will be calling back tomorrow for the owner.

    Hang up!

Of the stores that kindly gave me the price quote the prices varied from $17 to $35.99. You bet your butt those price differences matter.

Oh, here I thought you meant me!!!

Seriously tho - DONT forget to call back. Owners need to know when employees cost them business.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

First, I would call back and talk to the manager, if he/she is there, go get your bottles of booze and then go to that particular store and show that manager the reciept!!
"see how much money you just lost from me? and just think, everyone I know who is buying booze for the holidays either to drink or as gifts will NOT be coming here to buy it from you!!!"

I had someone act like that to me, at a liquor store once, over a question I had. And then he corrected my pronunciation with thick sarcasm in his voice. Really rude. I asked for the owner and found out it was HIM. How they stay in business, I have no idea.

Yep, you are really smart to check the prices......around the holidays there are a lot of specials........

Believe it or not I have found some really good gift liquor deals at Longs Drugs over the years......boxed with glasses and all!

Good for you for being smart and getting the best price : )

How incredibly unprofessional of the employee. I would definitely call the manager or owner and let them know how you were treated.

I called and got the same guy. He claimed he was the manager. I really don't believe him because he couldn't answer some basic business ?'s and didn't know what the better business burea or chamber of commerce was. I only mentioned these things to see if he really was the owner. They really don't apply.
I'm going to send a letter to the store owner.
