I am so proud of you!!!!
Congratulations on your new president! Wow! You did a great job. We stayed up all night. I went to bed at eight in the morning when my poor tired children left to school. They were so excited about this election, they too wanted to stay up and see everything as it happens.
Both candidates gave an excellent speech. I loved how McCain referred to Obama as his President and how he was sorry Obamas grandmother didnīt live to see this day. Obama was great in Chicago, it was so touching to see him with his wife and beautiful daughters. And Biden too with his family.
I am not American, but today I can truly say, from the bottom of my heart, that I am so proud of you! You are great people and you deserve a great president!

Thanks, iida,
Obviously, we think so, too.

Thank you, iida! It feels so good!
Every country but THREE (Israel, Georgia, Phillipines) supported Obama. That's astonishing. The energy and focus on this campaign from abroad is so humbling for me. I attended an election night party hosted by a British family (non-citizens) and attended by someone from Spain and someone from Czechoslovakia -- in addition to the US voters. Just seeing how they were so engaged and focused on the returns was a great experience.

It's just so great to see this much support pouring in from other countries outside of the United States. It shows that this election had a really profound impact on the lives of not just its own citizens, but those citizens of other countries. I'm hoping that it repairs all of the damage that the last eight years did and helps to show non-Americans that the US has the potential to help shape the world...not be the driving force of many policies that other nations wholeheartedly disagree on.

I guess I'm confused? Would you all not be proud of us if McCain would have won?

I have nothing against McCain. I didnīt like his choise of VP though. I know that many of you donīt care what Europeans think of your president, but G.W.B is not popular here. McCain would have been much better than Bush, but Obama is something that makes me really truly proud of you.
I am not saying that he is perfect or the answer to all problems. His job is not easy.
