Ya sometimes I will go through times of boredom. I will set a goal and that gets me out of my rut.

I feel like this all the time. It's worse this time of year because of the reduced sunlight and it being too cold for me to go for a walk. I think I am depressed though.

Definitely has nothing to do with weight gain for me, although perhaps the opposite. I'm underweight and lose more when I feel down.

When I was a SAHM, I used to ask myself one question each day...

    "What did I learn today?"

If the answer was "nothing," then I got to work learning something, whether it was through reading, researching, creating, or even exercising (learning the limits of your body). I always felt successful when I could say that I had learned something by the end of the day.

I actually started writing a book a few weeks back but with being so busy, I hadn't gotten around to it until last night. I made great strides in it last night, writing about four or five pages and editing what I had written so far in the chapter.

I've always been a fan of big results immediately but after going through frugality, I know that losing weight isn't always going to be something fast. Maybe at 31, I need to readjust my life some more.

As far as gaining weight is concerned and the connection between being bored and gaining weight, I think for me it might be boredom contributing to weight gain. I notice that when I'm out of the house, I don't eat as much. Though when I am doing something and am sort of zoned into it, the food just jumps into my mouth somehow.

Amyboz, that is a good way to look at it! Thank you and I definitely am going to start asking myself that question each evening before I go to bed.

I do something kind of similar to AmyBoyz suggestion. I set a goal for myself, in the morning, of two to three things that I have to accomplish that day. It might be work related or personal - doesn't matter. My goal is to get those things done. Lately, since I finally created an organization binder for myself, I have been writing those down each day and checking them off as I get them accomplished.

Today, for example, my goal was to call my vet about my donkey, who is limping; to get some packages sent off; and to get my dry-cleaning dropped off. I've done the first two, and will do the last on my way home from work. Makes me feel like I've accomplished something, rather than just sort of staggering through the day with nothing to show for it.

I am bored all the time too. I sometimes feel like if I sold my house and just kept traveling to different places that would be the only thing to help. But that isn't something realistic that I could do.I don't have any answers but I wish I did. Things don't hold my interest long either. I don't have money problems just don't know what it is.

I have to lose 2 lbs per month this year.

So, set yourself some mini goals for you to reach for.

    1. I will walk to the end of the block every other day. ( I bet if you start you walk farther )

    2. I'm going to read one chapter of one book a month. ( chapter is done, I might as well read another)

    see how it works?
This is so true. It's the actual starting that is the hardest part (for me, anyway). For example, I do WATP (Walk Away the Pounds), and the workouts are counted as miles. So there's a 1 mile workout, 2 mile, 3 mile, etc. If I tell myself, okay I don't feel like exercising, so I'll just do the 1 mile. Then when that 15 minutes is up, I keep going. It's like if you can get a little momentum going, get the ball rolling, you continue on.

I often feel how you do.
