I KNOW that I won't be laughed at here!!
My kids are having a field day with me at the moment and I don't care.
I have my Christmas cards all in the house and I hope to start getting them all written and finished by this end of this week - at the latest at the end of next week.
OK I won't be posting them till the beginning of Dec. but I will have the piece of mind that I have them done.
At the beginning of Dec. I will buy our special Christmas stamps (always a special offer here in Holland - much cheaper) and get them sent out.
Also the fact that I bought my Christmas wrapping paper on a clearance for 60%discount (old stock - new one just coming in and had to make way) leaves them shaking their head.
(I haven't told them that I have most of the Christmas gifts already in the house.)*Avril*

Mom to Laurens (30), Timothy (26), Dimmen (24), Lloyd (23) and Fiori (21).
May - no spend days 8/15
May - hanging laundry loads 3
May - no eat out 13/15
May - baking 1/1

i wrote out all my christmas cards one rainy day last month. won't send them until december, of course. your kids would really have a field day with me. of course i don't tell my kids....lol anything that you can get out of the way early is the way to go in my opinion. with the shopping, party planning, gift wrapping, etc. why not?

I think it is great to start early. I bet one day when the kids are older they may do the same. I'm usually way ahead with gifts but sadly I only have 2 right now. Keep up the good work!

You are ahead of me! I have no presents, no wrapping paper (although I do use my mom's stash, she has enough for many years!).

I'm glad I'm not alone. I was in the post office this morning and thought I should write all of my cards before things get too busy. I think I'll do that this weekend.

OH what lessons you could teach those kids that are laughing at you now. I bet when they get older they will remember how nice it is to get all the things done for the holidays as early as you did, and will want to do it the same way. And when its their money they are saving they will be shopping and doing cards early too. I say WAY TO GO!!

Nope, no laughter from this Villager!
As a general rule, I do not send 'regular' Holiday cards any longer (I now send e-cards, as most of my friends/acquaintances prefer to use email rather than snail mail). For those Family/friends to whom I send an actual card, I fashion a handmade gift of spare ribbon, bits of yarn, fabric remnant, etc. - - and tuck in a picture of all the furbabies or a special poem/song lyrics (little things that remind me of them).
I do not purchase wrapping paper either, but wrap my presents in brown paper grocery bags (inside out, of course)... tie them with raffia and ribbon bits, hotglue a few small pinecones on top - - and, voila! A smartly-attired, country-chic gift!

Thanks for posting! I'm off to find my cards!
I love staying ahead, it gives you more time to do things later on.Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

They'll understand when they get older.

I'd love to start wrapping some now but there's no place in the house to hide them.

I think it is awesome that you are so far ahead. Well I have pretty much all my shopping done. I'm going to put most gifts this year in stockings, I just need to find some cheap ones. If I could find some for $.50 that would be great. If not I'll just get some from the dollar store. This is the furthest ahead I've ever been on Christmas gifts. I still haven't gotten anything for my husband, but I'm going to start looking around soon. I may pull out my Christmas cards and see if I can't get started on them this weekend. I have some that I send overseas, and they need to be sent out a little earlier.
