Cool Surprise check in the mail

We got a happy surprise yesterday. We had a check in the mail for $350 from DH's previous employer. Apparently he had vacation time we didn't know about. Timing could not have been more perfect! We have bills that absolutely had to be paid this week and not enough to cover it. This is such a huge blessing and a complete answer to prayer!

You guys are not going to believe this! (be sure to read the first post in this thread. The following is the rest of the story.)

Yesterday I got home and checked the mail and got a letter from the IRS (you know that is never good) so I sat in my car and opened it. . It said that they finally finished processing our amended 2004 return (which I thought was already processed) and they were sending us $1300. so I went through the rest of the mail and found the check for $1600!!! They paid us INTEREST!!

This, on top of the unexpected check we got last week is an amazing answer to prayer. We will be able to be caught up on everything and fund our baby EF! We had expected for it to take months for this to happen! I still can't believe it. The check is in the bank and this afternoon I'm setting up my ING account so that we can access it in an emergency.

I know this isn't a religious forum, but I really believe that God is blessing us for finally being faithful with our tithe. We committed to giving him a certain amount and have followed through with that. He has blessed DH with a new job and now money that we didn't expect so that we can catch up with our creditors and take care of our responsibilities.

On top of all this, we have been given a few opportunities to bless others. I was talking online to my girlfriend last night (the wife of one of the pastors of our church) and she was feeling down because their 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up and she really wanted a small diamond band to mark the anniversary. After talking with her hubby, they concluded that there just wasn't enough in the budget to do it. (They are taking care of his nephews and paying off debt). As we were chatting I sent a text to her husband and asked him to call me when she was out of earshot, so he stepped outside and called. I told him that I still have my original wedding band which is a small band with little diamonds and, that, if he wants it, he can have it to give to her. It's hardly been worn (I have fat fingers and the skinny band just makes them look fatter lol). I don't know why I even still have it, I've sold nearly everything we have of any value to pay bills and pay of debt! So, this afternoon I'm taking it to be buffed and cleaned then taking it to Scott for his sweet bride. She is going to be so shocked!!!

Since we have this money and will have our baby EF taken care of, our extra money will go for a new (used) car for DH. He currently drives a 90 Honda Civic that was given to us. That car has gotten us through many rough times and now it's time to pass it on. James is discipling a young man who has had a rough time of life and needs some support to get on his feet. We are going to pass the car along to him. We thought for sure that car would be dead before we were finished with it, but since our savings has taking a big leap in size lately, it should still have some life when we are ready to pass it on.

    We are blessed!
