Big change here....
DH starts a new job Monday! It is just a tiny bit more money, but better benefits. With the baby on the way, benefits are what is important. (with the benes coming out though his check may actually be less) What will be weird is right now we both get paid every other Friday on the same day. So we get paid today, and then on the 28th we will only have my check, then on 12-5 DH will get a check for 3 weeks. Then we will start getting paid on opposite Fridays. In some ways I'm glad, b/c we will get a check once a week. In other ways though I'm not thrilled. I have everything budgeted very precisely the way it is. Now I'm going to have to readjust everything. I'm hoping maybe this will help cut down on bills though. Like the grocery store maybe? Going once a week and just getting enough for the week instead of going every 2 weeks. It will be strange having to save 1/2 of the mortgage out of 2 checks instead of paying it out of 1. It's a GOOD thing over all, it will just be really weird in the beginning. I am so picky about getting our bills paid "just so" and it will drive me crazy until I get a routine! You should see my budget book. I spent the whole time I was watching the CMA's going over variations of pay plans lol. I'm such a nerd.

Sounds like you are well-prepared for the change. Congrats to your DH on his new job! Congrats to you on your budgeting abilities! (I have the budgeting equivalent of a black thumb - still working on trying to remember to document all my bills!!)

Congratulations to your DH on the new job! BTW, I guess I'm a major nerd, too, because I'd be doing precisely the same thing.

At one time DH and I got paid the opposite Fridays and I loved it. Made the budgeting so easy for me. Now that he's got his long-term disability approved I have to get use to only one check a month. We'll be doing some adjusting here for sure.
