Hi from a fellow Georgian, I hail from central Georgia 35 miles South of Warner Robins. My brother went to school in Moultrie I believe for welding years ago.

I am about as close to living in Florida as you can get without really living there.
I will contently live the rest of my life happy if I never see another snowflake.
Ohio. What can you say about a state that has actually lost population over the last 11 years and during the same 11 years the number of state, county and city employees to increase by a whopping 90%? The worst part of this is most of the people leaving are the educated young because there just isn't any opportunity left in the Buckeye state. The people of Ohio can be thankful they are not getting all the government they are paying for.
I fear for family and friends I left behind because the hardest hit area of the country will be the Great Lakes region of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Hardest hit will be Michigan but following a close second will be Ohio.
Interesting to note we haven't entered the recession/depression yet, it is going to get unbelievably worse, and Ohio is running out of funds to pay unemployment next month. If unable to gain a federal bailout Ohio plans to borrow the money they need on the open market. Well gee, isn't this kind of what brought us to this place?
I know, we'll just borrow money to prosperity!
I owned a business in Ohio and they finally managed to run me out. I was in construction, had between 6 and 12 employees and it got so insanely difficult I closed shop, sold the house and left.
Ohio should rename the Department of Commerce the Department of Business Prevention. Fees on top of fees and permits with taxes and fees on top of those. What is amazing is they've still allowed some business to remain but what is left will be gone before long because the Department of Commerce are expert in discouraging new business. In Ohio the pay and benefits to Ohio government employees comes before all else.
In Columbus, off I-71 north of downtown, look for the Building Department annex. Count the little white cars for building inspector use and you will count between 150 and 250 on any given day at any time. I would guess an average of 200 cars and all this for 20 inspectors. Their budget found them so awash in money they had to spend it somewhere so instead of lowering fees, or returning the money to the taxpayers, they bought cars.
Why are building permits and fees higher in Ohio then anywhere else in the nation? I am not talking pennies either, what costs $250 in Georgia would cost $8,000 in Ohio. Why?
Corruption in Ohio has been relegated to a high art form.... whatever you think of politics look at what bureaucrats did to "Joe the Plumber" by leaking his personal details. Ohio has a system that would make Stalin proud. Whatever you think of Joe no state should have a system where private details of any citizen can be accessed by thousands of bureaucrats.
In the south business is still going to be tough but at least businessmen are not viewed as potential mugging victims by government agencies.
