Default My husband just gave me wonderful news!

Ok the back story on this is that when I was 23, and just graduating nursing school I made a dumb mistake. One day to our nursing classes this guy came selling these expensive pots and pans. I thought they looked really awesome, and I thought we would need them someday after we got married. I was just dating my husband at that time. I made payment on them faithfully until I took some time off of work at the end of graduate school. I got behind a few months. I was making some payments again, but I was still irresponsible and kept getting behind. Finally the account was considered a "charge off" and ended up on my credit report. I was so mad at myself that I wouldn't even use the pans I bought. Early 2004 was the last time I heard from them.

Fast forward to early September this year. I was in the early phases of being diagnosed as bipolar. Very emotionally unstable, and every piece of bad news sent me into hysterics. Out of the blue one day I got a phone call from a collection guy (who was very rude) telling me that I better pay up at once. I am still pretty naive about a lot of money issues, so I was thinking that a charge off meant that I didn't owe anymore. I thought it was just a blemish on my credit report and I was done. The bill collector was also telling me that I owed over $3,000 which was over double what the original cost of the pots and pans were supposed to be. I think I was down to owing about $700 when the charge off happened. My husband had to take over the phone calls with the bill collector, because I was so emotionally unstable. Well, I'm much better now as far as not getting hysterical about my debts and bills.

Anyway, just a few minutes ago I was reading about how someone had settled their debt down. I started telling my husband that I might can do that with a couple of my medical bills. I told him I didn't know what would ever come of my pots and pans debt, because I hadn't heard anything else in a while. I thought I'd just let sleeping dogs lie. I said who knows when that will show back up to start haunting me again. He started sending a text message to my father, and wouldn't tell me what he was talking about. I thought it was about Christmas or something. A few minutes later he brought out a paper to me showing that the bill had been settled. I asked him when this happened, and he told me that he had been working with the company. It was settled last month. I just started crying with happiness. I cannot express how much it means to me that he was able to get this worked out for me. One less thing to worry about.
