just a lil update
Hello all and I hope all are doing well.
Well, my (mis) adventure working for walmart is through. I got so lucky. Just when I had reached my breaking point, my old job called me back part-time and will work around my classes. It's almost twice the money! Yay!
The drive is longer and the hours later (not more, just later), but it is well worth it.
phew!

Congratulations on the part time work at your old job. I'm so glad they decided to work around your schedule.

Thanks to all. And it does seem to be working out for the better. I've also changed my major at school because I just really wasn't interested in the other course and that made studying very difficult.
I know there are several FVers who swear by Walmart, and that's cool, but let me share my experience as a former employee.
For all the rah-rahing they do about valuing employees, etc. I didn't see it in actual practice. Most of the management at this store treated employees like children. They were rude and condescending, gave no training or direction to new employees and nearly all contradicted each other in the way things were to be done. I am no stranger to workplace politics, but this was by far the worst.
Nearly every person in my department had had numerous run-ins with the dept. manager in which she yelled at them in front of customers and other employees. Most of these incidents involved a store manager being called and the group going into an office until things settled down. I saw this myself with another new employee and experienced it first hand. This manager also yelled (and I mean yelled) at store vendors in front of customers and employees on a regular basis. Although there are some who work there and are happy, I'm not alone in this experience. Of the 12 people in my orientation group, after 4 weeks there were only 2 still working there.
My point is this place doesn't treat its employees or vendors well. They are bullies. So if you are on the fence about Walmart maybe this will tip you to the other side!
Just my two cents
