My mom went through a super organized, plan ahead phase for a few years when I was a kid. She used to send out Christmas packages at the end of SEPTEMBER.
She took the "allow 4-6 weeks for package delivery" rule literally and assumed that everyone put their Christmas tree up right after Thanksgiving. Plus she wanted to add a couple extra weeks just in case the package got lost. That didn't last very long because eventually our friends and relatives started teasing her about it. "The Christmas presents from Cheryl are here. It must be almost time for Halloween." LOL!I may not be where I need to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be.

Well I guess Im the Christmas weirdo. I don't see anything wrong with being excited about the Holidays. I know a few people who have already put up trees. I think I might put mine up this weekend.

I'm with you. I already have most of my Christmas decorations out (went out day after Halloween), and we're just waiting for the weekend after Thanksgiving to put the tree up. I've spotted two homes with Christmas lights up already, and my Christmas cards are ready to be sent out Nov. 28. I have nearly all of my shopping done and about half of the wrapping done. The holidays are crazy enough. If I do a little each month throughout the year, I feel that Christmas spirit year-round and avoid holiday stress!

I guess they figured since Canadian Thanksgiving had already passed and it was getting close to the middle of November, they'd send it out to get it done.

Crap that reminds me that I need to get mine done too! *freaks out* It's like people who put up their Christmas lights already and this was back in the first week of November. Are people counting the day after Halloween now as the first day for Christmas stuff, especially since there's no holiday between now and Christmas? I guess you could count Rememberence Day.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

This is exactly what my dh says. I have my tree up, not decorated because we are going to the beach for Thanksgiving...and won't be home until the Sunday after. I just fluff it a little each day (it's a big tree and I am having problems with my hands right now)....so it will be ready to decorate when we get back. I refuse to decorate it until then. I always have it done the weekend after Thanksgiving. My Christmas cards are written but won't be mailed until the weekend after Thanksgiving.
