storing food/moving
I'll be moving and will have a unheated storage unit for stuff. What kinds of foods can I keep in there?
I know unopened boxed stuff like pancake mix will be okay. Will canned goods be okay, like soups, veggies, raviolis, they may become frozen. Stuff I can't store will go with me to my moms but I was wondering what I could store for my next place.

Canned goods might not be a good thing, especially if there's a chance of stuff becoming frozen. Soups, sauces (like spaghetti sauce) are probably a good thing to put in there too because stuff like that can already be frozen. I'm a bit iffy on vegetables, ravioli, etc.

I would NOT put any type of canned or jarred items that have any liquid in the storage unit. When liquids freeze, they expand and may burst the can or jar.

Yikes, I knew pop exploded but didn't know cans could.

Personally, I wouldn't store any food in a storage unit. Too much chance for bugs and rodents. Why don't you just take the food to your folks where you'll be staying and use it? You can always save up a little extra to restock, but I'd just consider it rotation and use it rather than move it twice. And although your plan is only temporary....you really don't know how long you'll be there, things don't always go as anticipated.

I second (or third) the 'take it with you and save up for food'. Not only do you not have to move it from apt1 -> storage -> apt2, you can use what you have, save up money and start fresh in your new place with new hopes, new dreams, and new peaches
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!
