free/inexpensive things to do
okay, so i have a better perspective on things and am trying really hard to work with things... (some of you may know what i'm talking about).
so, to get some more ideas i'd like to know some of the things you do ALONE that are free or next to it - in the evenings and during the colder weather.
i am going to start going to the library more often.
i'm going to visit my nearest recreation facility & see what they have there.
that's where i'm stuck tho! lol
i need to "get out" more - and dont have anyone to go anywhere with. but i only know of these couple places!
there are no meetups near me i'd enjoy going to. and so far i've gotten no response for a sewing/knitting/crafting type of get together (in my area w/out driving 20 miles). so i'm trying... but i'd love your ideas on what else I could do.
thanks bunches

I watch TV, play on the computer, read, do cross-stitch and watch movies. We also have a hill in our backyard and I have been known to slide down the hill
Our neighbourhood also has a skating rink at the park. It is completely free to go and skate there.

Most everything I do in the evenings are with DH and DS or usually just my own hobby i.e. reading, watching tv, working on a puzzle, crafts etc..
But in keeping with the theme of something to do outside of the home in the evenings...
You've said library and recreation center.
Maybe a a bingo hall if there is one nearby, hey you may win some money.
A bookstore you can browse through and sit in, maybe to enjoy a cup of coffee.
Local theater as in real people acting or seeing local concerts at the theater (sometimes these are real cheap during the weeknights).
Possibly even just taking a stroll through your nearest mall. We have tons of folks that do this here just to meet people because they aren't the "going to a bar" kind of people lol.
Movie theater.
There's always a church open somewhere with people in it.
Check into any local volunteer programs for evening work.
If you have a well lit park that's always full of people nearby give it a try.
I second the dance studio that would be fun.
Hope you come up with some fun things to do to help get you out there more!

I am looking forward to driving around at night with the kids looking at Christmas lights.
Who knows...maybe we will go caroling around the neighborhood.

I read, paint, write or just watch TV. I'm with my kids all day, so after everyone goes to bed...it's me time! So I usually just chill out.
Book club at your library? If your looking for a group activity that might be fun and free! Do you have a college or university near you? We are lucky to have a university here in town, so there are almost always free concerts and things going on.
Check your cities website and also Park District (or whatever you have that is similar) and see what they have happening. Our park district always has things going on for free. And our library also does information things and lectures too!
