It's probably not a big deal for a lot of you guys ...
... because you are used to having a lot of snow, but it's been snowing on and off here since yesterday.
OK it's melting almost as soon as it hits the ground but just looking out of my window into my yard, it is SO beautiful.
We have a lot of trees including a holly tree and it is GORGEOUS!!!!.
This weather just makes me feel so happy.

I remember going to school in Pittsburgh and having these three Puerto Rican guys sliding down the hill after a huge storm. They'd never seen it before and I think they all got really sick from it. They looked like they were having so much fun!
I also used to live on the coast of North Carolina where it barely snowed and when it did, people went crazy. They'd never seen it before and they loved it.

I have a student who just moved here from Africa and she is disgusted with the snow. "It's cold! It's wet! I am always sick!" *pointing to her nose* We were supposed to be doing our reading groups, instead, my kids were showing her how to do snow angels. She's a little less angry about moving to Ohio now

I'm with you, Dutchie. For us down here snow is a VERY big deal. Back in 1985 when I was 17 years old, we actually had 13 inches of snow and it was a BLAST! The entire city shut down and everyone made snowmen (and snow ladies ) , had snowball fights and had a great time. People who see snow all the time laughed at us, but it was fun anyway.

It's a rarity here too, and a delight when it falls. I lived in Toronto 4 years for graduate school and never got tired of it. But then it was back to the south. I would love to have a little this winter. On my days off, of course!
*snorts* Snow is highly over rated, trust me after digging out in back to back storms that produce a foot and a half to two feet of snow each time, it isn't so pretty.
That said, I could never envision not having snow for the Christmas, so if we got 7 or 8 inches on December 21 or 22 and it sticks and stays throught the Holiday for a white Christmas and then we don't get anymore, I would be happy.
I liked it much better when I could look at from on top of the hill that my Grandmas little house was on. I was a child then. It looked pretty back then covering the rooftops and trees and everything. At night it was really special to see the lights twinkling through the snow and the smoke rising from the chimneys.
But here, in Mich where it is mostly flat land, it's not very appealing. It makes me shiver. I don't want to see it OR feel it. It reminds me of why my ankle and back hurts so much now. You can have it all!
I grew up in Iowa and experienced all the snow that I care to see. We don't have as much snow where I live now, but we still get it, and I still don't care for it. That said, I know that it is important for putting gentle moisture into the earth and for killing off some of the bug population.
And as a teacher, I think I looked forward to snow days much more than when I was a student! That was a nice part about my job: when there was bad weather, I usually didn't have to be out in it.
So far, no snow here. Hope it stays that way for a while.

March On!!
1. Keep on writing. glorybug.wordpress.com
2. Spend more time in my craftroom.
3. Food: $100. Spent: @$50
4. Continue my Bible study time.
5. Start the kitchen remodel.
I was just thinking about this as we got a couple inches this morning. I hate shoveling it, I hate having to drive in it, I hate scrapping ice off my car, I hate being cold all the time. That about sums it up
We got it nearly a week ago and it's still sitting out there. Blech! Real winter already, we'll not see the lawn again until April. Yes, it's pretty when it's falling, provided you have nowhere to go, but after it sits out there for a few days and starts to get black and yellow, it loses it's appeal. Not to mention how utterly depressing it is to look at it for 6 straight months.
