We've been robbed.

I'm only online now because I'm "borrowing" my neighbor's wireless.

We came back from our Thanksgiving trip last night to a broken in home. I moved my car and parked it on the street from the garage and noticed the door to the house in through the garage was ajar. I asked dh if he had opened it and he said no. Then I said well you better come here because I locked it. So far we know for sure the Wii and HDTV in the living room was stolen. The entire house was ransacked. I don't yet know what else is missing because we called the sheriff and he came and did a preliminary walk through. The forensic's team is due to come in 30 min. to an hour this morning.

None of my entry doors to the house can be locked. They kicked down and broke the locks to the side of the house/garage to gain entry. They had to break the front door to leave because I had a locking security chain on there. So they didn't leave the way they came in. Also looks like they tried to get into through the windows first because the screens were taken off but they were unsuccessful.

I hope my grandmother's jewelry is still there that's the only thing that cannot be replaced. I had also finished the kid's Christmas shopping so I hope they didn't find/take their presents.

Also, I need to put fraud alerts on everything because they went through our personal documents in the office.

I have to wait to call my insurance company (thank goodness for having Renter's Ins.) because they said they need the police report and list of missing items. My dh is going to the property management office this morning to report this and start the process of repair and securing our home. If they can't do that then I might have to get out of the lease.

Oh my gosh!!! How terrible I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope they didn't get anything that can't be replaced and I REALLY hope they catch the lowlifes that did it.

Most "things" can be replaced ( not including your grandmothers jewelry) thank God for insurance. But the worst part is the sense of violation, how dare they!

About the only bright side, is that at least you were not at home when it happened. I hope you are able to secure things up to feel safe again and hopefully, they didn't take much more than what you noticed originally. Keep us updated on how things go.
