    Default More unsafe toys

I heard this on the radio today.

They were talking about unsafe toys again this year.

I also didn't know they were going to ban- was it some sort of plastic?

Did you listen to the steaming audio?
Now that was disturbing. It said it didn't seem to matter where something was made or how much it cost. Exception was cheap children's jewelry.

What freaks me out, is that we consistently hear about how unsafe these toys are at Christmas time, but rarely do we hear the media talking about them during the rest of the year unless there is a recall. Apparently, the safety of our children only matters at the holiday!

This is why my kids mainly get DVDs, clothes and other items for Christmas. We refuse to buy anything that comes from China, or anything that's made with cheap parts. What's even more sad is that the US leads the pack in toys made with considerable amounts of lead when the US has prided itself on making safe, quality toys for all ages.

What needs to happen is tighter regulations on all products, regardless of their country of origin, and testing by an independent panel that covers every product that's going to be mass-produced for population consumption. All ingredients, parts and other aspects of the item need to be tested for safety in terms of toxicity and safety before it's even produced and sold to the public. No wonder our children are sick all the time...

    It's sad.

I buy USA made stuff for a few reasons. It disturbs me that they are finding lead in those things as well. **sigh**
