Fresh ginger, I cut it into small pieces and take it like pills as it burns like hell to chew it, however, it takes out the inflamation instantly, since it is in your throat you might try boiling about a silver dollar size piece in some water and making a tea with it!
Feel better

No, that just irritates the tonsils.
I get tonsilitus about 4-6 times a year, it hurts like mad but if not for those tonsils you end up with the full blown virus that they are keeping at bay!
Ibuprofin helps with inflamation, and hot tea to help with the pain in your throat. I always eat scrambbled eggs and other soft things so not to irritate them anymore than they already are.
Good luck, I hope this helps and you fell better

Gargling with warm salt water helps me when my throat is sore like that. If it's infected than I go to the doctor for an antibiotic. I hope you are feeling better.

Make sure you get seen don't let this fester. You may have strep and that is not something you want to mess with getting out of hand! Dh came down with strep a year ago and just kept trying to tough it out not knowing it was strep. Well, he ended up in the ER hooked up to an IV antibiotic. This is a tough as nails guy that I watched get his thumb almost ripped off by a table saw and he barely whimpered. But the strep? He literally laid in bed for over a week crying everytime he had to eat or drink anything...feel better soon!!

I was going to warn you about strep too. Even if you feel a little better in the morning, you should still see the doc.
Feel better soon

Hope your feeling better! And I hope it wasn't strep! Strep can lead to many serious complications like; acute rheumatic fever, you don't want to mess with that stuff. Hope your doctor got you started on something and your feeling better today!
