Does Anyone Use Life Lock?
I have been seriously thinking about getting Life Lock & was wondering if anyone here has used it & how satisfied are you with their service? Thanks

Just signed up for it after having my debit card go missing at a gas station. Can't tell yet, but am hoping I don't actually have to USE their service ;-)

We use it, and it appears to be effective. I tried to open an instant credit card at Kohl's and forgot about the Lifelock. They denied the instant credit, and Kohl's had to call me later for approval. So, you won't be able to sign up for any instant credit, but neither will a criminal.

We have it and are quite happy with it. It's one bill that I don't mind paying each month.

I have not used them, but I do know that there are 3 class action suits against them and they are being investigated by federal authorities for mail fraud issues, but I don't know too much more.
I think the class action suits are claiming that they falsly advertise the amount of protection that they actually provide. I think if you do a web search on them, you can find the actual complaints. Not saying they are not legit, just make sure you are aware of the services they will actually be providing for your dollar, becuase I think that is what people are complaining about.
I also saw an article about adverse effects to your credit, but I'm not sure exactly what was in that article, but it was stating that putting the lock on your report can actually lower your score.
When we looked into it, basically that we found that the low risk of being a theft target can be cheaply solved by watching our bank statements each month and simply purchasing all three of our credit reports once or twice a year.

Some states allow you to freeze/unfreeze your credit. We did in FL and it was a 1 time charge of $15 and I think $10 every time you unfreeze. Check your State Consumer laws.

You can lock your own credit report, there is zero need to pay a company to make the same phone call you can make on your own. Save the $120 a year they charge and do it yourself.
You know those comercials they run with the CEO's SS#... he had his identity compromised over giving out his information in that commerical. Some guy used his information at a Texas check cashing place
http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/05/22/....ap/index.html
Snips from article below
.... LifeLock charges $10 a month to set fraud alerts with credit bureaus, even though consumers can do it themselves for free.
Companies like LifeLock can help guard against only certain types of financial fraud by helping consumers set up alerts with credit bureaus, which inform them when someone tries to open a new line of credit or boost their credit limit to finance a buying binge, for example.
The services don't guard against many types of identity theft such as use of a stolen Social Security number on a job application or for medical services, or even the instance of an arrestee giving police a stolen Social Security number to shield his own identity.
LifeLock is also being sued in Arizona over its $1 million service guarantee, which the plaintiffs claim is misleading because it only covers a defect in LifeLock's service, and in California by the Experian credit bureau. Experian accuses LifeLock of deceiving consumers about the breadth of its protection and abusing the system for attaching fraud alerts to credit reports.
"There is no company that can guarantee they can protect you (completely) against identity theft," ..... "Absolutely nobody can do that.

I would recommend Zander Insurance's Indenty Theft Protection.
They help you clean up the mess if/when something does happen.
