Cool I know this is a little silly, but......

Now we all have wierd little habits for one reason or another and some for no reason at all, it's just something we do!!

As I layed down to go to bed last night I got to giggling because I noticed something I do every night when I go to sleep!
I have, since I was a child and I have no reasoning for it! (that I know of) When I get into bed and pull the covers up I always make sure my ear is covered, if I am laying on my back, I will cover both ears!! But the ear HAS to be covered! I will wake in the middle of the night if the ears are not covered!!! I dont have any logical reason, it's just something I do!!

So, What's you strange little habit and is there a reason for it?!

I double check things: the burners are turned off on the stove, the doors are locked, the dog is fed, the curling iron is unplugged, the lights are off, the thermostat is turned down, etc. etc. (you get the picture!)

I like to sleep with one foot outside the covers. Dont know why. I have done it for yrs. If both feet are covered and I am sleeping thats fine but if I wake up for some other reason like going to the bathroom, when I get back in bed then my foot is sticking out again

Oooh, I'm almost all of the previous posters put together!

I have to have covers and they have to be over my face. I was born 13 weeks early (46 years ago) and weighed 2 lbs 2 oz. My nurses always kept me covered my mom says. Even if it's 100 degrees, I have to have covers. Yep! Its true, I'm weird.

I also have this "thing" I leave the closets and kitchen cabinets open alot. I'm not sure if I open them and just don't close them right away or if I Have to leave them open before I can shut them.

I also have to sleep with the covers on. Also, I have to have a glass of water by me at night and I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT go to bed without brushing my teeth.

I do what I call 'pillow mongering' it's more of a wrestling thing....
I have back problems and my neck is stiff and crooked so when I get in bed it's a 5 minute fight with the 4 pillows getting the angles all *just* right. Poor Gripey (he never complains or even makes a sigh over it.... )

Along the same lines, covers have to be up and over my shoulder or I cannot sleep. And I will wake up if dh pulls them and they slide off my shoulder. My sister has the same issue.

I have to have a glass of water on my nightstand, even if I don't drink it. I also check the knobs on the stove compulsively before bed and before leaving for extended amounts of time.

The door to my bedroom must be closed when I am sleeping. I was a very fearful child and the bedroom door provided security.

I eat everything with a fork! Burgers, pizza, taco's, fried chicken, ribs...everything!!
I was born and raised in rural Alaska, it was not uncommon for people there or anywhere for that matter to eat finger foods with their hands!!! But I have to eat with a fork!!

I know one of the reasons this started was because all of my life I had horrible teeth, it was painful for me to eat any other way, but now that I dont, I still have to have a fork!! This makes for somewhat of an odd situation at fast food joints! You ask someone at a burger shop for a fork and they look at you like your insane! So, I carry my own with me ROFLMAO

I move my foot around before I got to sleep. Kind of like tapping your foot rhythmically and slow. It's weird and I don't know why I do it but I have to or I can't fall asleep.

I have obsessive little routines before I go to bed or leave the house for a trip away.
~check the gas is well and truly switched off on the stove
~make sure all taps are firmly swtiched off (I have a habit of leaving taps running then walking away)
~Make sure all doors and windows are locked tight
~Make sure fridge and freezers are shut tight.
~Check Martha has plenty of water

If I don't do all these I get really really anxious and can't sleep. I also get paranoid when we go away about having not done one of those things. Usually the tap one is the worst, I am terrified of flooding our rented place while we are gone for a week or more...And spend faaaarr too much money on racing back to the house in a cab just to triple check once more! Luckily Martha comes with us everywhere so at least I don't fret about her.
