I saw this on CNN early this morning. It is so sad. I wonder how long it will take to get the DNA comparison back. If it is Caylee, it surely is a double edged sword---horrific that they found her dead (even though the general concencus was that she was and that her mother murdered her)---but a blessing that she can be laid to rest.

They just said a few minutes ago that it will take one to two weeks for the DNA to come back. They also said that the hair samples, bone lengths, and some dirt matching the scene to the crime point to it being her.
It makes me sick to think of this whole damn deal. How could anyone hurt a child? I just can't understand how this stuff happens........

Well if it is her, she can have a proper burial, I am so sick of this whole thing and to think what a mother can do to her child. So sad.

Well, I totally expect the mom to go for the insanity defense. I think she will suddenly have an epiphany and remember what she did to her child and say she was crazy.

I believe in innocent until proven guilty but her actions since the baby went missing reminded me so much of Scott Peterson and his callous attitude about his wife being missing, I have had no doubt in my heart she did it.

I just wonder why her parents have done such an about face after making the 911 call and now total support of their daughter?????

I believe it was Mrs. McDowell who said she probably chloroformed her and put her in the trunk when she wanted to party/go clubbing. And then it went bad. This is a scenario I can picture with Casey. Then she panicked and hid the body.

I think that body was buried in the back yard first (hence the borrowing a shovel from the neighbor). I think she moved the body when they were getting too close. Nice mom. I always love the type who put their social life before their kids.

You said it. I had such a hard time understanding the Andrea Yates thing. She turned out to be mentally sick, but this chick seems to be just selfish who is going to use the "mental defect" as a defense. I just cant wrap my mind around this stuff.

They said on the new here this morning that they are going to try to "rush" the DNA so they will have it back sooner than the 14 days.

It's so sad to watch, and this case has been on our local news nearly weekly, if not nightly, since this woman did this horrible thing. I, myself, am ready for it to end. It just makes me want to hug my daughter more.

Casey Anthony's definitely mentally ill, but she's far from insane. She knew exactly what she was doing and the level of premeditation makes me sick.

It is hard for me to believe that she was chloroforming her and it went wrong because of her internet searches for neck breaking

I can't understand how a mother could just dump their childs body! Even if she accidently killed her and then panicked how could you just dump your childs body somewhere. I agree that she is like Scott Peterson. She will probably be found to be a psychopath. This is such a sad story.

Every time I hear something about this case, I just look at my 1 year old and 3 year old, I can't image not having them here!!!

How awful, its really sad, because there is so many other opitions out there, adoption, foster care, families who wants kids and can't have them. She could have easily tried another way, instead of getting rid of her!!!

I'm sure there was some level of premeditation. Apparently, the police found duct tape across the mouth. At least there is closure for the rest of her family. I really have given up following the news too closely. It's so depressing. I don't watch our local news at all after a story they ran about 5 years ago. Their video was so offensive that DH and I gave up on it. I keep up with Yahoo headlines just to see if anything major is going on in the world. My mind is much easier now.

A good defense means that a conviction is much more likely to stick. You absolutely do not want her defense to half-a** this case because those who are convicted can appeal on the grounds of "my lawyer didn't do his job." We need to keep that in mind when we see lawyers defending people like this. They need to bring everything to the table so that later there'll be no "Oh, we forgot to look at this little piece of evidence that may have worked in the defendants favor."

Insanity, btw, is a legal term that means nothing in the realm of psychological health. I don't see it working in this case because she had the presence of mind to try to hide the crime. I think it's much more likely that they'll try to get a bargain in exchange for the details of the crime. JMO.

Btw, I don't like these subject of this thread. It's morbid and much too "in your face" to be stuck out in open in general chat. Not everyone wants to be reminded of this crime.
