Oh, that's a bummer. How did he lose his paid vacation? Was it a condition of keeping his job!!??

That's horrible. I didn't even know a person could lose their paid vacation time. I know at my job, we will get paid for any accrued vacation if we leave the firm.

    Debt as of 10/25/09:

    Student Loan: Currently $9500

    Mortgage: $472,000
    Discover CC: $6500 at 0%
    Chase Disney: $3000 at 0%

    Goals:
Get monthly food budget down to $200/month for me and my husband.

On the upside, when the economy gets better maybe there is hope the paid vacation will be reinstated.....? I'm sorry, I know it's disappointing but like you said.....he still has a job.

That really stinks! Hopefully things will turn around and he can get it all back.

What sounds bad is he still has his job, with no benefits..and a cut in pay.

The boss didn't want to lay anyone off, so he asked everyone to make small sacrifices. If it keeps someone else there, it's worth it. We will all just tighten our belts a bit more.

This sort of thing REALLY freaks me out. I barely slept on Thursday night because I was so worried about it. I woke up this morning with a new frame of mind: we CAN do this and we WILL get through it. It HAS to work!

I forgot to add: DH's boss is a terrific guy! When DH was off work after emergency surgery last year, he used up all his vacation and still had three weeks of recuperation left. DH's boss paid the whole time and we have [aid part of it back. The boss said (back in August) that if DH didn't take much more vacation, he'd call it even. Sooo, I have no doubts that he is helping his guys out the best he can.

Lori with a positive attitude like that, I'm sure things are going to work out for you. It sounds like your dh also has a wonderful boss and that's great.
