    Talking Won't be on much...

Won't be online much for the next few weeks...

Dh and I are headed to Vegas from Dec 14th - Jan 9th!!! I'm so excited!! I still can't believe it's REAL!!!

The people we rent our little place from asked us to clear out part of our kitchen (a couple cabinets) and any of our stuff from the floor because they wanted to have linoleum put in (it needs it BADLY) and fix part of the wall that got water damage...and then new flooring for the bathroom (which DESPERATELY needs it, as well). So, I had been slowly moving a few little odds'n'ends to clear space.

Well, the big shocker of the day was that they decided to --- GET THIS --- COMPLETELY REMODEL BOTH ROOMS!!!!!! I am ECSTATIC!!!! They haven't said if they're putting in new counter tops, but they are replacing the circa 1960's, beat up, worn out cabinets with OAK CABINETS!!!! The wall will still be fixed, the new flooring will still go in, and they are going to touch up the ceiling, too!! (It had water damage from a couple years ago). (Yes, we're living in a very run down little place...but, it's in a safe area and affordable).

The bathroom is going to get a MAJOR remodel...like the 36" (?) sink/counter will be taken out, the toilet moved, and a big, fancy tub/shower put in that place (maybe even a jacuzzi kind!!), then a 48" sink/counter will be put in another place...and new lighting!!! Which will be nice as the old fixture kept shorting out bulbs!!

I am BEYOND ecstatic!!!! This seems UNREAL. And NO, our rent will not go up at all from this!!! (Yup, we made sure...although, it will go up slightly when the gas company raises prices in Jan/Feb to cover that...which is fair...our rent includes that). The contractors are coming tomorrow to do more measuring (they've already done a walk-through and quote). And they start on Monday!!!!

Someone needs to pinch me. All of this doesn't seem real. When do I wake up? A trip to Vegas and then coming home to a new kitchen and bath?? Can you see the slack-jawed look on my face through the computer???

Well, I've almost got all the packing done...and I've spent the last couple hours moving stuff and doing some extra cleaning in prep for the contractors. I'm exhausted...and happy... But, I'll sure miss my frugal family while we're away... I'm going to try to get online once (maybe twice?) a week, if time and the situation permits.

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Woo Hoo on the remodel. Wow, that must be nice to be away when it's done. Every remodel we've ever had I was here and had to do it.... Enjoy Vegas. If you get the chance see Cirque de Soleil O....it was fabulous. Good luck (you're gonna need it..... ).
