Question I need your opinion on something

I am making a family cookbook for my sister for a "wedding gift" should I do the recipes on pretty stationary and slipe the into page protectors in a notebook or into 4x6 photo slots in a photo album? I am torn. Thanks for your help

If it were for me ,I would prefer the 4x6 cards, because I could carry them with to the store...either way it is a very wonderful gift!!!

It depends on what you wanna do.
The stationary & such will take longer to do.. do you have the time to invest?

If you do the simple index cards, take pic's of the foods if you make them often and put those in there to add "flair" or find pic's of it online & print those out and add.
You could also do this with the pretty stationary one too...

I'd prefer the one with plastic covering the recipe... simply because I love making a mess... and my mess loves getting everywhere! lol
Spiral bound would be nice too... that way you can either stand it up on it's own... or lay it down w/out taking up much space.

If you can draw, then you can also draw pretty stuff or draw the "completed dish"...

I'd say think what she would like to have... what's practical at the same time... and how much time you want to invest.

I think either way I will try to do it all on the computer. I have teplates on my computer for recipe cards and recipes so I was thinking of trying these maybe. Do you think page protectors would protect better than the 4x6 sleeves(4 to a page)? Or the same?

I'd like the 4x6 pages instead of full pages, BUT, I'd save the templates and put on a cd for her incase she ruins one in the kitchen, she can print a new one for herself later. Also a few blanks for her to add her own as time goes by.

I don't have any suggestions, but WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!I would have loved a gift like that when I got married. I may keep that idea in the back of my mind for the next family wedding.

I'm going against the majority here.
I'd rather have the larger size, that way you can also increase the font size in order for it to be easier to read.

I agree, I love this idea too!

Great idea! I've been wanting to make myself a cookbook with all our favorites - so I might steal the idea! I think a photo album with the 4x6 plastic covered slots would be awesome. Print out the 4x6 card on the computer for a finished look, and then take a photo of the finished food to put in the second 4x6 space underneath. Just like all the expensive cookbooks! Whatever you decide, it sounds like its going to be a thoughtful present, I'm sure she'll love it!

I like the full size pages myself. Easier to read. Whatever you do make it easy to add to later on.

I'm a fan of a binder with page protectors. Not just for the recipes you will be starting her out with, but it's so simple to tear recipes out of magazines and slip them right into a protector, same with printed recipes on the computer. Just a thought.

I think that 4X6 with in a photo organizer would be easier to handle, easier to sort through and a little easier to edit. I would include plenty of 'blanks' so she can add more.

And I agree- what an awesome idea.

I think the photo album idea would be nice BUT I think the page protector in a notebook idea might be more practical mess-wise. With the photo album, if there is a spill or cooking related mess that gets onto the page...well, if wiped quickly it might not cause too much damage but if it does, the mess is in the album for good. With the page protectors, if she needs to she can replace individual page protectors if they become wrecked somehow. But either way, what a wonderful gift idea!!
