BEEF!! Frozen split chicken wings
OK, so I purchased a 4kg ( 8.8lb) box of frozen split chicken wings ( tips removed) so I could precook hot wings and freeze for after school snacks for DS. The quality and taste of the chicken are good BUT my beef is that in the whole box there were only 12 drumette pieces! All the rest were the middle part of the wing which tends to have more skin and fat than the drumettes. This just peeves me off, the picture on the box shows and equal mix of both.
I know that they sell the drumette pieces seperately in the fresh meat section for a premium but if I am buying a case of split wings am I off my rocker to expect a 50/50 mix of drumettes and middles?
Do you think if I e-mail the company with my beef about their chicken that I have a valid concern or would I just be another crazy consumer expectiong too much?
By the way I have the only other time I have contacted a company before with an issue it was regarding ICOKE pins so this would be the first time doing it regarding an actual food "Beef", I certainly have passed along "Bouquets" when I have recieved outstanding products or services though.
Am I crazy or is this the way cases of split wings usually come?

If the picture on the box showed an equal number of each then you are perfectly justified in feeling ripped off. Contact the company and complain that the box falsely represented the product and let them know how displeased you are

I'd complain too. You just might get a response back and maybe even a couple of. I complained once about pizza pops and got a coupon for a box of 12. They were very nice on the phone.

I sent an email
Ok, bit the bullet and decided to send an e-mail and here it is:
To Whom It May Concern:
On Dec. 5th purchased a 4kg case of your Frozen Split Chicken Wings (ITM/ART 316979, UPC: 0 15194 16404 0) from Real Canadian Superstore. I precook big batches of hot wings then freeze so my son has “easy after school snacks available. I have a concern regarding this product in that I only received exactly 12 drumette pieces in the entire case? I must say that I have no concerns regarding quality and taste as these were excellent, but to only receive 12 drumettes left me kind of baffled. The picture on the top of the case clearly illustrates a good mix of both drumettes and wing middles and led me to believe that the case I purchased would be as depicted in the photo. Also the wording of the product “Split Chicken Wings, Tips Removed” would lead one to expect a somewhat even amount of drumettes and wing middles.
One of the deciding factors in purchasing your product is that you are a BC company and I try to buy as close to home as possible. I have never heard of any issues with your product, ever, and I have lived in BC my entire life. I am hoping that this was just an error in your processing/production operations and not truly the way this particular product is always sold.
Chicken wings are destined to become a staple in my household as the teenagers seem to love them, and I would like to know if this was an error or should I be looking at other brands to satisfy our needs? I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
I will keep you posted as to what response if any I receive,
Thanks for letting me know I'm not a crazy consumer.

It's going to be interesting to hear what their response is, if any. I'm hoping they respond in a good way.

I also feel you were justified in contacting the company. If it says split wings, then for each middle part there should be the drummet part, after all they would be attached to each other on the bird.

Update!!!!!!
Oh my what a quick and satisfying response to my "beef".
I just received a letter in the mail today from Sunrise Poultry, they acknowledge that the ratio of drumettes and wingettes were not appropriate and they sent me $30.00 in Superstore gifts cards!! That $5.00 more than I spent on the case of wings. They say they passed the issue on to the Quality Control Team and IQF Coordinators
I will be phoning them immediatley to let them know how much I appreciate t5their prompt response, resolution and customer service!
