I am glad someone called
hopefully something will be done, that's just plain rude on her part, no respect.

The squeaky wheel always gets the grease so I would call animal control and the health department everyday until something is done. If you complain enough, they will eventually help you just to get you off their backs
. I would also show up at the city council meetings or whatever forum your town officials use and complain to the city council about it. It would help if you could bring pictures of the property and the numerous animals also.

You don't mention her age but couldn't there be so agency out there like elder care or something were they might force her to be checked out so that she's fit to be living on her own....some type of safeguard program.
The hording of anmials is probably some sign of a sickness...also if she hollers like that all the time she can't be to stable.
I'd try looking into something like that...good luck

you have no idea how badly I would have liked to use my tazer on her at that moment!! But she is ALWAYS in her yard and behind her fence, so that would have been my problem in a big way!!
It's ok, it is another morning and I think I will drive the kid's to the bus stop again and see where her mouth is this morning!!Proud wife to Randy

You know I can understand you dislike the verbal "abuse" your children are subjected too and certainly wouldn't want her for a neighbor myself.
However, I am a big supporter of individual and property rights. If she's not hurting anyone and she is not infringing on others rights then personally I would leave it alone. She has every right to enjoy her property as much as you have the rights to enjoy your property. I would just caulk it up as a life lesson for your children that not everyone lives their lives the same way you choose to do.
My .02 cents

Maybe the bus-stop can be moved a few houses up? If you stare at the school long enough... (and bring a picnic basket and some knitting to do, it shows that you are ready to be there a long time) they should look in to it... you don't KNOW that the kids are safe at that bus-stop

Not all nurses are nice...
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Oh wow, that's just plain appauling! Does she want to be known as the woman who died in her house and was found with 100 cats around her, feces and urine everywheres?! I can't stand people like that. There's a difference between having two or three cats and taking good care of them and having more than you're realistically allowed to have in one particular space.
I love cats to death and honestly, I couldn't harm a cat. However, I would make that woman as miserable as I could by having those cats taken away from her by the local animal shelter.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I am in total agreement with you. The OP appears hell-bent on exacting revenge on this woman via any means possible -- calling the health department, police, school board, social services, animal control -- simply because she finds her neighbor's language offensive. The woman is on her own property and can say whatever she wants.
If the OP is so concerned about this woman's language, she can drive her kids to the another bus stop, which she admits is close by anyway. I find her need to harass this woman via any means possible -- most of which will not solve her problem -- just because the woman has a foul mouth to be even more offensive and unneighborly than this woman's sailor talk.
She should deal with the issue by taking her kids to another bus stop, and stay out of her neighbor's business. Clearly the neighbor wants her privacy.Last edited by lgw; 12-18-2008 at 10:41 AM.

You are right, she is on her own property and can do as she pleases, just like I do on my own property, the difference being that I respect my neighbors and would not do things intentionally to offend them or piss them off with my actions!
2nd, I did not call the health dept. nor did I say I was going to. I did not call the school board, nor did I say I was going to. I did not call social services, nor did I say I was going to. I did call animal control(4 years ago) to find out what my rights were when her animals came to my property and started killing my animals! I did call the police AFTER politely asking her not to swear like that in front of my children and in exchange for my politeness, My children were called bastards and I was called a bitch!
My asking her not to swear as she did in front of my children is not harassment, and if it's OK for her to verbally or otherwise express herself on her own property, then it is OK for my children to go to their bus stop! I do not mind driving them to another bus stop at all, but as I said previously the other bus stops are about 1 to 1 1/2 miles from ours, so therefore it would not be fair of me or anyone else to expect them to walk that far to the other bus stop. If it is not OK for anyone to inconvenience her then the same rule should apply for the rest of us who own property here, wouldn't you agree?
I think, if you knew this womans history, you would not be accusing me of harassment or any other ill behaviors for simply trying to do the right thing for my children's sake.Proud wife to Randy

This is your choice and I agree with you, that being neighborly is the "correct" thing to do. But no one has the right to project their own sense of what's "correct" onto another, so long as they are not breaking a law.
I would agree, it is not harrassment to ask her to change her behavior, but calling the cops on her was and is. She has every right to express herself however she likes, you do not have to like it or agree with it, but you should accept it. It's that whole freedom of speech thing America has.
Absolutely, if she or her animals infringe on your property and your rights, then yes she should absolutely be held to the same laws. Your previous incident with her cats and your property and chickens is absolutely an infringement of your rights and it sounds like you followed thru with reporting it to the law enforcement officers.
Previous behavior has nothing to do with this particular situation, as this is a single incident of verbal communication that you do not agree with. You don't have to like her or agree with her, but you need to respect her rights, just as she needs to respect yours.
Would I want this woman as a neighbor, heck no, from what you've told this forum. However, I have to respect her and her personal rights.
I personally, would have zero issues with you bringing this up with the school board about changing the location of the bus stop. You are a concerned parent about the verbal "abuse" your children are subjected too, there is nothing wrong with asking for a change.
Best of luck to you as you deal with this unfriendly neighbor.Last edited by Denvergirlie; 12-18-2008 at 12:18 PM. Reason: spelling
