    Default Who let Murphy in???

... or it could of just been DH. (He seems to break everything he touches) Last night he's using the microwave to reheat his supper and thought he blew the circuit breaker but apparently he didn't. It was 8 years old so I guess it was only a matter of time. We had gotten it as a wedding gift from my dad. Its going to take a while to get use to not using it for a while. Wish it would of waited until after the candy making. I like using it to melt my chocolate. *laughing*

Really? 8 years? Dang. Now I wonder if it's worth sinking the time and money into repairing the door handle on mine. It's 12 years old. It wouldn't be such a big deal except my stovetop light and vent are built into it too.

I've read where many people throw out their microwave when they think it is finished, and it's only a fuse that is gone. Here's a link.

    http://www.partselect.com/repair.asp...t=replace-fuse

You might want to check to make sure it isn't just a fuse.

That was my first thought but when I said something to DH he acted as if I were crazy. Thank you for the site. I'll definately check it out.

Debbie, we learnt the hard way. Our microwave went and we tossed it out. Then just last week I read a book and in it, it said to always check the fuse. When I mentioned it to dh, he laughed too. Next time we have a microwave, if we ever do again, if it quits it will be the first thing we check out.

I've discovered with my DH, the more he acts like I'm crazy the more likely I am to be on to something. He usually comes around over time. So it's just a question of doing the research and waiting him out.

We are currently budgeting to replace the patio door downstairs. 6 months ago I was "nuts" to suggest we could do the install ourselves. Now I'm "nuts" to suggest we include installation in the budget.

I'm not saying this is what's happening with your DH, just that it's a pattern I've noticed in my own.

Make sure you understand the safe way to work on a microwave. I have never done it myself but, people who should know have told me the magnetron will store energy like a capacitor. What this means is even with it unplugged there still is shock hazard. It will have to be safely grounded to make sure there is no danger.
