Firstly, for me anyhow, I do a weekly (or sometimes more often considering I have 3 teens in the house!!) Prayer for my home!
And I also burn lavender candles, and spray a lavender mist regularly because lavender helps with depression and it is a very happy and calming aroma!

It is not my favorite smell but it works!!

I've heard burning white sage helps. I bought a big bag for cheap at the natural store which I mostly intend to use for pet odor, but white sage is supposed to be purifying if you put it at every corner of a room and then the center. If you google it, it is more descriptive.

My Dh smiled and rolled his eyes when I bought some "smudges" at the organic store. "Global Shaman Smudges" (I am deep cleaning my house for Christmas and thought it couldnt hurt. ) The smudge is a bundle of herbs larger than my thumb, meant to be burnt and the smoke purifies objects and locations. It contains Sage, Cedar and Lavender.

Also check out some Feng Shui books from the library. There is some ideas on improving stagnant energy areas and flow in your home with mirrors and crystals in the corners.

I have also heard burning sage helps as well and saying a prayer as you walk around the house. You have to have the sage burn in every room, so this means walking around the house with the sage burning as you say a prayer.

When we moved into this house I wanted to get rid of any bad vibes because the people who sold it to us were going through a divorce. I researched it and found that according to feng shui, wind chimes are supposed to help so I went through the house and shook windchimes in all the corners. We also have windchimes hung in some of the corners in our house. We have been living here happily now for over 7 years.

That is how my sister does it and she said to make sure you get in all corners and closets and you must say specific prayers. Not just "go away bad spirit" you have to invite the good in also.
