a firm NO!!!!!
I can think of a few instances of me telling the Old Man 'no' but giving him an explanation as to why...
There is only ONE thing I am a firm NO about... for years he's been trying to get me to agree to getting the set up for deep frying turkey
He said they will take away his 'southern manliness' if he doesn't fry up at least one

Big screen tv. We have perfectly fine working tv's in a reasonable size. They are too expensive, I get a headache watching them and I don't think that there is a stud in any wall in this apartment that would accommodate one.

Nothing yet, but we've only been together 5 years (and to be honest he's cheaper, ahem more frugal than I am)

OK, I'm gonna catch all kinds of flack for this one but . . . CABLE. I think we watch too much t.v. as it is, and I don't want my kids glued to the tube. Nor do I want that extra bill.

I say a lot of "I'd prefer not to" but can't think of anything that I have firmly said "no" on. Then again, he's never asked me to deep fry a turkey...

I have two firm NO's and I told DH about them before we moved in together so there was no misunderstanding. No large screen TV and NO home theater system. I don't enjoy the 'movie theater experience' and I would NOT be a happy wife if it was in my house.
We have come to an agreement that if we should ever be able to buy a house (we're renting right now) and are able to get one with some kind of den, family room or garage on the opposite side of the house from the bedrooms and main living area he could buy that crap and set it up in there as long as it was sound-proofed. That is my compromise

“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I dont think there is anything i would say no about. he makes the money and if he wants to buy it, whatever. We used to live on water front so had a boat. We had the sports car and sold it. I have the turkey fryer set up...lol. We have a 32" tv with the huge suround sound system. All of this we bought used except for the electronics. We own guns, have road motorcycles and owned some at one point. So i guess there isnt anything...lol

My only firm "no" is kids. But he doesn't want them either. I'm cool with pretty much everything else.

Lol Lady V. Um maybe some kind stranger can have him over, have him put an ad in craigslist & maybe someone will take pity on him.
Situation wanted: Man who's wife won't let him fry a whole turkey would like to cook up a fried turkey at your place if you have the set up. Willing to do dishes in exchange. Please help a poor guy from the South regain his southern manliness with a piece of fried heaven. Thank you from the bottom of my pea pickin' heart.Last edited by Darlene; 12-20-2008 at 01:42 PM.
