    Default Alone for Christmas

My mom and my brothers are all in Ohio but the rest of my family is in Illinois... they all had plans to go out to IL for Christmas but my mom called me crying last night because my little brother couldn't make it. He has to work tomorrow, so he decided not to drive the 16 hours it would take to get there and back. She's really upset about him spending the Christmas alone.

We're lucky to have Daddy home with us this Christmas, otherwise it would have been just me and the girls. There was absolutely no possibility of us making it home for the holidays.

Anyway, I just wanted to send a special Happy Holidays to those of you who are either alone today or missing someone who is. Hopefully we'll all be with our loved ones next year.

    Merry Christmas, Nishu.

I live on Capitol Hill in Seattle and the snow is still bad enough that I couldn't risk going down to Federal Way today (or, at least, it seemed that way early this morning - we probably would have been okay - but you never know with the buses) so we're supposed to go down on Sunday. My mother and two of my sisters are there and, to be honest, I'm missing being there something dreadful.

Ah, well... Jeremy and I have each other. And the animals.

    Thanks, Nishu,

I saw my sister and mother yesterday, but they are doing their own things today, so I am spending Christmas alone (unless you count a couple of hundred critters).

Thank you, it's the first Christmas that most of the kids couldn't make it home. Either away serving our country or the weather is just too bad. DH and I even went out for supper. Most of the Christmas diners were "older" couples, it was nice but different, kwim?
