How much coffee do YOU drink?
Did you know that there is such thing as being a coffeeholic?
(I think our little smilie friend is one!) A few years ago my mom's doctor told her that's what she is and she needs to cut back. I think she tried cutting back for a while but went into her hold coffee-drinking habits.
I've found this past month I'm often feeling tired and non-energetic. I was wondering if maybe I feel this way because I'm drinking too much coffee throughout the day. I haven't been falling asleep at night as quickly and easily as I usually do, and I'm thinking coffee may have something to do with it. I probably drink a 6 to 8 cup pot of coffee in the morning and a 6 to 8 cup pot in the afternoon.

I drink 1 pot of coffee per day (8 cup) but I never allow myself to make another pot b/c I'd drink it too. Funny thing is I never liked coffee until about 2 years ago.

DH and I only drink coffee on really cold mornings (under 40 degrees to us) sometimes that may be a lot of mornings and sometimes it may be just a few depending on the weather that year. We both usually have 2 cups on those mornings. Sometimes I make a mocha coffee drink on cold days for myself and have that. Sometimes I get a mocha caramel coffee ice cream thingy if we are out and about on the weekend and it's warm out....because those things are delicious and sinful.

I would have to say I probably fall in the coffee-aholic category. I drink a pot of regular in the morning and a pot of decaf in the afternoon in the wintertime.
The worst part of it is, I know if I cut back I would lose weight since I drink it either with good french vanilla liquid creamer (chock full of calories and sugar) or with cream and sugar. Not good for me, but hard to give up!

I drink 2-3 cups per day in the AM. NO caffeine after that. What little I do drink is too much for my BP, but I've drank coffee since I was 6 and I'm not stopping now that I'm 51 &1/2. LOL Caffeine stays in your system for at least 6 hrs after you ingest it, so I would say that yes, all that coffee you drink is keeping you up at night.
Try switching to an herbal tea in the afternoon. Or at least decaf coffee in the afternoon LOL
M2B- have you tried substituting some vanilla extract in your brewed coffee and then added milk instead of the high calorie creamer?Last edited by thefrug; 12-30-2008 at 09:15 AM. Reason: added reply to momof2boys

I drink about 8-12 ounces a day. Most of it is finished in the morning and no caffeine for me after 6pm except for special occasions.
I drank way too much coffee this past week and my sleeping pattern has paid for it.The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

I usually have 2-3 cups in the morning. No more regular coffee after that. Very rarely on the weekends dh will make a second (half) pot if it's really cold.
In the evenings, dh & I have a cup of tee.

On weekdays, I drink one cup in the morning, and green and black tea throughout the day. On the weekends, I start my morning with a soy cappuccino and have another in the afternoon with a pastry of some sort. DH bought a super automatic espresso machine last year because he's a coffeeholic. I could take it or leave it.

i have always had a coffee problem .....ahh the bean... anyway i cut back during both pregnancies to 1 tiny cup in the am (with the ok from my OB of course) and now im still nursing so i let myself have a small cup in the am and one at 2 if i really feel like i need it.
the best thing to do i learned from a friend is to make yourself drink an extra cup of water for every cup of java, and i mean drink it right before and make yourself finish it before you get the coffee.
i have also found that drinking hot/cold ginger with lemon and sugar helps me feel energized so i often sub a cup of coffee for a strong cup of grated ginger.Reba

I've never acquired the taste for coffee but I really really like Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate. Of course, I don't want to pay ou the wazoo for it, so I just bought peppermint extract to add to my own hot chocolate.
I drink way too much coke though. I'm working on that.McD

Two to three cups in the morning but none at night unless we are out for dinner and then I always drink decaf. I use the half regular coffee, half decaf in the morning. If I need something hot at night, I drink decaf tea.

Most days, it is two regular-sized coffee mugs in the morning, and that is it. Once in a while (once every 2-3 weeks), I'll need it at work, and I'll brew up one cup there. If I sat in an office every day, I'd probably drink at least one cup every afternoon, but I'm usually up and out most of the time, so I'm keeping active and not thinking about it.
