Default I finally did it....Ugh, I feel naked!

After many years of struggle I have finally taken all credit cards out of my wallet. I only have my debit card. Gulp....I will now be forced to only spend money that I actually have. The good thing is that the whole family is on board with our new frugal lifestyle. We are making it a game to see how much we can save each month. We have a family change jar that everyone is contributing to. We will count it at the end of the year and use it towards a treat for the whole family. I am so excited to embrace this new attitude!

I will need a lot of support from you guys. I know I will hit weak moments. That's why I love it here. There is always positive feedback! Thank you!!

Who else wants to take this step? Maybe we can start are own club!!! LOL!

    2012 Goals:

    1. Build up EF.
    2. Lose weight.
    3. Quit smoking.
    4. Stay within my monthly budget.
    5. Continue paying down debt.

Good for you! We have one cc for dh's travel and use checks or cash, I hate my debit card! You can do it!

Yay for you! I need to do the same thing -- we hit the cc's a little bit during the Christmas shopping and I'm regretting every minute of it! Mine are coming out of the wallet on January 1 and I'm going to be diligent about making sure DH and I get our spending money in cash regularly so we aren't tempted by them and we can stay on budget.

That's the first step. Taking them out of your wallet won't help all that much though if you can get to them easily. Freeze them or cut them up so that you don't have easy access to them.

We've been cc free now for almost 15 years and we wouldn't have it any other way.

    What she said.

Good on ya for taking the first step!

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Welcome to the CC Nudist colony! You'll get used to the naked feeling of being without a credit card soon enough and actually come to embrace it! I've been a non-card carrying member of this group for many years! Getting rid of the cards, really is the best way to get rid of debt...personally, I think it is the only first step to getting rid of debt!

    Congrats, and hang in there!

Good for you. We took all our credit cards out of our wallets 2 months ago, and locked them in our safe. It was really weird at first but it's becoming more normal everyday.

I cut up my CC a few years ago and have only had a debit card. It is a bit scary at first, but it is quite freeing. You quickly get used to only buying what you can afford.

    GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
