Not Feeling The New Year Spirit
Anyone else not feeling the new year spirit?
I can't believe it's here..and well, doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
Maybe it's because it's my 1 day off of the week today and I've spent it being paranoid about something at work all day... won't find out my paranoia is all for nothing until tomorrow am at work.
Maybe it's because I wasn't in the mood for Christmas this year either - I spent it away from family for the first time ever and it was just ok. I missed the fam a lot.
Maybe it's because I'm anxious for March when my fiance finally moves to VA (he is in Germany now) and we get married...
Or maybe it's because I'm tired of living alone. My life seems boring and there's no one to share it with here but the cat. I have friends at work and friends I see about 1x per week... but the day to day is just the same old same old..and it's b.o.r.i.n.g.
Anyone else not feeling the new year spirit? Whatever the reason?

just can't believe it is here already....Christmas came and went so fast, I feel as if I didn't even enjoy it...now I need to take down my decorations, but I think I will leave up some of the lights because my house will seem so dreary once they are down...I know what you mean about being your day off, it is mine too.....Good luck, hope you can at least get a little enjoyment out of the New Year,,,,,here's to a new fresh start.....

Count me in.Sorry you didn't get to spend Chrstmas with your family, that's a hard place to be in.
I think I'm in some kind of a funk or something.
To me it feels like just another evening, just another day. Same old... same old.
Hubby is working tonight, which is no big deal cause we haven't gone out for new years eve in quite a few years, we will however be going out to brunch tomorrow with good friends & I'm looking forward to that.
Hope everything will be okay at work tomorrow. I know what you mean about the cat.
They are just not known for their conversational skills ( dogs aren't much beter, but then again now that I think of it there are days the husband isn't too good either
)
Things will be better in March but til then here's a hug of understanding from another person with a boring life

I think this festive season we were all to tired to really enjoy it. My brothers and sisters always meet up at my mums and have christmas dinner even if they have to have it warmed up. this year they were all working christmas day so didnt get here till later in the day, by which time we were all ready for bed.
This New Years Eve has been really boring compared to last year, we always stay at home for New Years but my brothers and sisters go out together, phoning at midnight to say Happy New Year. Last year they all phoned and after the usual we said goodnight and were just about ready for bed when one of my sisters phoned back to say two of my brothers and my sisters boyfriend had been arrested. The police here do a big crack down on drunk and disordelys at christmas and new year, they had ended up getting carted off to the cells for the night and getting £80 fines.
I hope you have a very Happy New Year, it sounds like your life is going to changing alot in this coming year. Just think this is your last year as a single woman, by this time next year you will be a Mrs.Book challenge jan. 09
I am the person who was, who is and who will be.

I'm still sick and too sick to enjoy tonight. I normally get into a little black dress but with my weight gain this year and the ear infection, I'm just not feeling it. I miss the days of going out being single, having tons of fun without having to answer to anyone about where I was or whom I was with.

Me three! I'm sitting here alone waiting for the baby to wake up to feed her. Vic works till 10, home at 11. I totally forgot the grapes at the market on my one trip out for the week - we usually must have 12 before midnight (superstition). Do raisins count? Heh heh.
I'm thinking of cracking open a bottle of champagne I got before getting prego and making some cheapo cocktail weenies out of hot dogs and crescent rolls. Yes, the cupboards are bare. We'll see. ::

Im home and not feeling it. I had to be reminded it was the last day of the year.

~I don't do hyped holidays so I never have to question if something 'feels' like it's 'supposed' to. Yesterday was yesterday and today is today. Time-keeping is just numbers, the rest is in our heads. And yes, I am grumpy today after being awake listening to all my neighbors making insane amounts of noise in the a.m. hours.~

I really don't like holidays and never have, even as a child. It's not some deep, dark mental problem, I've just always preferred the day-to-day world.
This time of year I usually yank out my old Barry Manilow album (does that date me, or what?
) and listen to "It's Just Another New Year's Eve" which goes, in part:
Don't look so sad
It's not so bad, you know,
It's just another night
That's all it is.
It's not the first,
It's not the worst, you know.
We've come through all the rest,
We'll get through this.
Hang in there. We're here for you.

I feel icky today and I didn't even do anything last night! I feel stressed out, and don't even know why.
The last 4 months were overwhelming, with school and work and family and a household to run. Now it's the holidays, I have time to myself, and I'm in this funk I can't snap out of!! Ugh!!!

I'm sorry you're not feeling very celebratory. You should do something special for yourself. Doesn't have to be a big thing but just 'something' to celebrate the day. If it were me (I know it's not) but I'd do something that I never do like go see a movie I've wanted to see, get take out from a place I never get it from or just go and rent 5 really good movies, buy popcorn, have a pizza delivered and watch my movies in my pj's. Seriously, do something nice for yourself, you deserve it.

I've felt off this whole holiday season. I feel really different about the new year ahead than I have in the past, but I think it's a good thing though. I'm more realistic in my expectations. I used to get bummed out that i never had the movie style new years with a big party and stuff.

Thanks everyone! I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one who didn't feel the New Years...

I did go out and treat myself to dinner on 12/30 out... and it was delicious. I did also go to a friend's new years party, which was just a few of us gathered and playing games. It was fun.
Work went JUST FINE.. I freaked out over stupid things for nothing, which I noticed I do a lot lately - I'm not really sure why. I'm trying to pay more attention to it and not let myself get freaked out.
Thanks again for all the support! Hope everyone has a good day!
