Well, you know what else they say... "Life is like a box of chocolates...a $492,798 box of chocolates!"
Holy cow, that is a load of benjamins!
That is over 5 times what I paid for my house...for plates!

hmmmmmm......... Ok, I'll refrain myself from making a comment like "isn't there something else that Mrs. Obama should be putting that money towards?" you know, like one of their programs on the south side of Chicago?............ oops?......did I just say that out loud?

OUCH!!!!!!!
Isn't there something more wise that SHE should be spending that money on?
and why is she buying new china in the first place? Isn't she leaving the White House????
One thing's for sure: she just spent enough money for the rest of us to be able to be frugal and save and make up for what we are not contributing to the economy!!!!!!Last edited by IntlMom; 01-08-2009 at 07:31 AM.

Since it was paid for by the White House Historical Association (nonprofit group) and not by taxpayers, I don't care what they spend.

Non profit or not, I think it's totally tasteless (not to mention wasteful) to be spending that obscene amount of money during one of the worst economies since the Great Depression.

I have a soft spot for museums, historical associations, etc., and have absolutely NO problem with them spending THEIR OWN money on whatever they see fit. I would hate to see them stop adding to their collections. I think we would all be poorer for that. Oh well, we'll just have to agree to disagree
