Default Walking out of the store... with nothing

So I went into wal mart today. First time in a long time and ya know I'm so not going back again for a long time. It was crazy in there! Parking lot was full, people inside running each other over whit carts and blocking whole aisles. I spent 20 minutes looking for the one item I was in there to get. NAd I could not find it.

I wanted just a $2 bottle of Fog-x for my car windows. Could not find it anywhere. So for the first time ever I walked out of Walmart with nothing! Not one thing. Nothing tempted me enough to even impulse buy. Every time I have ever gone to Wally World I have ended up sending more than I should have because you walk past so many things that you simply must have.

It felt so good to walk out of that store and not spend.

So I skipped over to Target. Nice quiet, no crowds. And found exactly what I wanted plus the flannel sheets I was wanting to get for my bed. A set of flannel sheets for $19.95!

Even though I just plopped down some heavy cash for tires on the car I am so happy I was able to avoid the walmart trap.

Duck Walmart as much as I can. At times it can be a zoo. If I have to go I try to go on weekdays during work hours. It's a little better.

    I love Target.

I was in the Target in my area once when they opened. Haven't been back. I judge a store by the way they treat their large size customers.( cuz I am one ). There was 3, yes only 3 round racks of plus size clothes! Apparently they don't want my money which is ok with me. I'll spend where they actually want my money and have the selections that I want.

I try to duck Walmart as often as I can too. Sometimes it's almost impossible because of the city that I live in. However, the other day I was there and you could have thrown a bowling ball down the isles. I couldn't believe it.

Man I wish we had a Target in our province.

I seldom walk out of Walmart with nothing, though I have a few times. Target on the other hand... I think I've been in the one we have here four or five times, and only once have I found anything to buy. It's fairly new, wide aisles, sparkling clean, but little selection, it seems, and it has a really unfriendly feel to it for some reason. I usually can't get out fast enough. I've heard others say the same.

    Go figure....

I try to avoid shopping at Walmart for those reasons as well as others. However, I don't have too many options real close to me.

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE Target.

For me, Wal-Mart is the only large store that is close to us (15 minutes away)!! We have a K-Mart and a Shopko about 45 minutes away. I don't really like going to Wal-Mart, but sometimes it's my only choice. I have, however, started using my local stores and even though the selection is smaller and the prices sometimes higher, I feel good giving back to the community!! Plus, with a smaller selection, it's easier to get in and out without buying things I don't need!!

For the life of me, I can't understand the fascination with Target. In every one that I have been in, the employees are rude. The selection was not near as much as other stores. I got a very weird feeling just walking in the door. I had a Target gift card that I won at a party. $250. I could not get in there and spend it fast enough. The place just makes my skin crawl.
When they first came out 20 years ago, in Florida, I had the same feeling. I live within close driving distance of several. I mean several. So it's not like I have only been to one.

I agree with the Walmart atmosphere being a turnoff...rude people yelling and screaming, pushing and shoving, blocking the aisles, letting their children run amok, etc. (or is that just a Jersey thing?) Panic attack city for me, but if I need things on the cheap, try to go on a weeknight before closing or early in the am. Target does have nicer quality on the clothing end but as another poster said, the variety for us heavier gals is certainly lacking.

    :agree:

Though I try to stay out of Target as much as possible only because there are always too many good deals, and I spend more than I should

Wal-Mart is more expensive here than other stores for the same item. I refuse to go to Wal-Mart for an item I can get cheaper elsewheres. Besides, going to Wal-Mart at any other time than 5am means you're about ready to open an assault rifle on everyone just to get to the latest Elmo doll.

I don't know why people worship Wal-Mart like it's the one and only store they can get stuff at.
