We're Moving.......again........ VERY LONG!
We’re moving…….again……
Here’s the story:
I’ve been hinting in my posts that dh isn’t happy with his job, I even hinted at our having to move in my status. Hubby has been seriously, SERIOUSLY unhappy at work for months now. He only started his new job in August of 07, but he just got to where he couldn’t stand it any longer. My hubby is an agricultural pest control advisor, which is a fancy way to say that he’s a plant doctor. He grew up farming, and for the last several years, since he left the farm (family issues), he’s been trying to find just the right job. We have moved about every 2-3 years since 2001. Fun, eh? Mostly I don’t mind moving (leaving Nebraska was hard because I made my bff there!). So here’s the deal, there’s a company that has chased him…….really, really chased him. They have made him an offer that is incredible. I mean, really great! But he has said “No” every step of the way, even though it’s a great job, doing EXACTLY what he is awesome at, and he hates his current job….
The reason he has said no up till now?????????
Welllll ………………………………… any of you that have paid attention to my posts, know that there is one place and one place only that I have said I never ever wanted to live again was…..California – yep, you guessed it. That’s where the job is at. We’ve talked and prayed and talked and prayed. We have put all kinds of road blocks in front of this job , and God has blasted away every single one of them. So, hubby starts Feb1, we have to sell our house, and the kids and I will come out either after school lets out in May, or when the house sells, whichever comes first. The company will fly him home every month until we sell our house, so that is good.
God has always taken care of our homes selling, we even sold a home with water in the basement. So I am confident that this will be no different. But please start praying, as we will be busy trying to get it ready and me having to keep it clean to show with 3 kiddos and a hubby out west.
Finally, I am amazed at how at peace I am with this whole move to CA. The last time I had to move there, I was physically ill and lost about 30 pounds in the weeks leading up to our move. We were there for 2.5 years and hubby moved us again to “get his wife back”. I have really been praying that God would give me a sense of peace about this job, move: everything. I am so grateful to God that He has brought me to a place where I can FINALLY say “God, You are with me WHEREVER I go”…(which, btw, I already knew, I have just been really stubborn for the last, oh, like 15 years!)
There is a wonderful Christian school in the town we are moving to, so that has already been an answer to prayer. (both hubby and I are exceedingly unhappy with Ca public schools on so many levels)
We will be living near a nice town of about 40000, that is about 30 minutes out of SAC and about 90 min from the bay area…….30 minutes to Trader Joes, and 90 min to IKEA…..whoooohoooo
One last thing…….thanks for listening ya’ll!

Good Luck with your move. I understand the hesitation about moving to somewhere you really don't want to. I'm sure that you will get settled in and all will be great.

Sounds like it might be close to where I live......
What is it about California that throws you into such despair?

Congrats on the great job and I think you might grow to love Northern California. I miss it a lot up there. *sigh*

I'm another former Californian, and I loved living there. Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, and I hope the second time around goes much better.

I'm glad you have found peace with your decision. And, if you drive a couple/few hours north/northwest of your new place, you can see the redwoods and the ocean
