If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I was watching Fox News when it happened. Simply amazing piloting!
My first thought though, after they said it was probably caused by a flock of geese... "That's where the geese are Quiltin' Mama"

Now the bad news. The aviation community to which I belong has gotten information that suggests that it was only one bird, and that unfortunately after the bird strike, the pilots shut down the wrong engine, and attempted a restart on the damaged engine.
It's an easy enough mistake to make under such stressful circumstances, and the pilots did an awesome job landing the bird in the water gracefully, but... if the data I'm hearing is correct, then it's a shame cause it would have been an avoidable near-catastrophe.If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Unbelievable! I just watched this story on the news this evening. One man was talking about how it felt in the plane and he said one voice in his head told him this could be it and the other one was reassuring him that he had a lot of life left ahead of him. What a blessing that they were all kept safe.

Great landing...so pleased that despite the circumstances of how they had to do it that the pilot was able to stay level headed about the landing.

Still can't believe the pilot landed it so well & there weren't any major casualties. Lucky lucky people. Hope those that were hurt, heal quickly. I did get that lump in my throat when I saw all those coming to help rescue them all. Brought back memories of 9/11 when the world came together for a brief time like no other.
Anyone want to bet PETA will have something to say about the poor defenseless birds who were killed? That plane was in their space and...Last edited by Darlene; 01-16-2009 at 09:12 AM.
