~I'm on my last day of a news free week. I do it a few times a year along with cutting back my computer time in general and it is very helpful. Too much information on the same subject can be really toxic.~

I have mixed feelings on this one. I have been essentially news free for years on end at times, hearing none, seeing none. Generally, the news is not where I live my life, and it's been good.
On the other hand, with things in such disarray as they are at present, I feel like I need to keep up with at least the headlines, if not all the grisly details. So I won't be obsessing over it, but I'm sure I'll listen to some on my days off work, and will at least check in on a news site when I'm at work.
But I definitely applaud you for doing it, and 95% of the time, I'd be whole heartedly with you. It's just that for me, personally, now is falling in that other, admittedly rather depressing, 5%.Donna

I live my life news free. I stopped watching the news some years ago when I realized it was nothing but bad news. I don't feel I've missed out on anything - or anything good that is! If it's real important and I really need to know I'll hear about it some other way. It has made my life much nicer.

Yep, I'm nearly news free as well. In fact I've laughed lately: dh will say "did you hear such and such on the news today?" I laugh cause there have been a few times where I say "yea, I saw it on the village".
So, now I say, "I get my news from the village".
Really, if it;s important enough it'll find me....otherwise, it;s just way too depressing - I cannot change it, so why stew on it?

I would like to try this....and I am a news junkie. It is bothering me that there is hardly anything positive in the news anymore. So I will depend on the FV to keep me uptodate if there is anything important in the news this week.
