Smile What are you a "self-proclaimed" expert at... (and side story about frugal fun)

So this weekend, we had a bunch of friends over for a game night. We weren't sure how it would go, because a lot of people groaned about adults playing board games. We asked everyone to bring a game, and we'd just play til we got tired.

Well, it was a total success, and we are going to start doing it every month, rotating homes! We had so much fun! So, give it a try as a frugal way of getting together with friends!

Anyhoo, one of the games that we played, presented me with the question, "What are you a self-proclaimed expert at?" and everyone else had to answer the question too. They basically had to try to match my answer, then explain why they chose it.

So, not knowing what to choose, I said cooking.

Here were the other answers (which I thought were funny):

Fashion (one guy said fashion, he said I always seem to have something different, new and cool going on with my outfits...which I thought was hilarious, becuase 99% of my wardrobe & accessories is thrift shop inspired (I like to call it "vintage"))

6 people said frugality (all for various different reasons, which I also thought was funny, becuase my first question whenever I have an idea, is how can I do this frugally)

And my hubby said something adult contented...which I won't repeat here!

So, it was really interesting to hear, what my friends think of me and how they see me! I would have thought some of them looked down on me and my frugality, but they all said in their explinations, that they were all impressed by it!

So what are you a self proclaimed expert at?

I think I am best at being a homemaker and mom. Although don't peek in my window this morning. We had very lazy weekend. Now it's time to get back to andand and the ever present.

I would probably say cooking for myself. Not that I'm some wonderful cook or anything, but people are always saying that I know how to cook well (probably because most of them rely on hamburger helper and refrigerator biscuits and don't have scratch food until they come to my house lol)

Of course fruaglity, especially cheap travel- I am queen of the frugal vacation.

In addition I'd say education, ADHD, and spirituality w/o dogma since these are topics I constantly read about.

btw: love your game night idea- we do that once in a while and the guys always groan before but have fun anyway (especially when we have Texas hold-em tourneys, lol)

Depends on how you define "expert". I'm really good at what my sister calls "something from nothing": crafts from scraps. Just messing around with what I have and creating something interesting/pretty/useful/fun out of it. I made gift card pockets with my daughters' old jeans, holiday gift bags with leftover fabric and ribbon. A horse fetish with beads, fabric scraps and other bits and bobs.

    I couldn't teach it though.

Hmmm...I am really good at making yeast breads, I have never had a problem with them and I get requests for recipes. I am good at organizing and keeping things cleaned up (thanks OCD!). And I'm also a pretty good seamstress - I just recovered my old living room set and feeling pretty proud about that. Good thread I tend to dwell on my faults which are many so this was good!

Most folks around me would say that I am an expert in organizing.

I HATE being disorganized with a vengeance.

Because I've done research on so much for alot of companies, doctors and individuals, my friends think I'm the walking Wikipedia! For whatever reason, I can remember the strangest stuff.

Cake decorating and trivia. People ask me all the time about music and television. I remember the most insignificant stuff. I had a friend one time call me from vacation in Hawaii to ask me who the actor was that played Ace on the love boat! (BTW it was Ted McGinley)

Italian cooking hands down But my coupons, frugality, decorating, and patience would have to be up somewhere in the top 10 also.
