I'm in a funk.
I have recently discovered that I use food to fill in the gaps of the day.
Whenever I either have nothing to do or just want to avoid what needs to be done , I eat. To avoid eating I would spend way too much time on the computer. Then I learned how to eat while I suffered the net and guess what? Now I'm even fatter! Plus now the net pretty much bores me.Even my beloved FV just doesn't hold my interest for long. I come and read a post or two then I'm gone. I start to reply to threads , type it all out and then deleat it and leave. In fact I have come to notice that everything bores me. I don't like anything on TV anymore , I can't read books during the day because my kids need my attention. Cleaning, PLEASE! I have never been into that. Yes I am creative , I sew and what not but I haven't been inspired to do anything. I start something but my hearts not in it so I never finish. I am just bored, bored , bored with everything. I'm not looking for suggestions on things to do, I have plenty to do. I just don't have any interest in doing it. I think I may not be getting enough sunlight .I dont' think I am depressed or anything, I'm not sad just bored. Like a kid with ADHD I just can't focus on anything. Can anyone relate?

Yep sounds like SAD to me. I have the same problems when it is cold and gray outside. After a few sunny days in a row I have lots of energy but give me one gray one and I sit on the couch and channel surf. I have started a knitting a scarf that probably won't be done until spring. I got three books from the library that are due next week and I am only half way through one.
Winter is not my favorite season!Jeanne

Yep, definitely SAD. Keep plugging away, try and get some sunlight and hang in there. It will turn around soon!

Your day totally sounds like mine! I have so much crafting to finish and yet I sit here, just a bit uninspired.
Maybe you need to shake things up a bit. Find a new hobby or something. Sometimes trying to learn something new can spark a re-interest in your creative side!
Or maybe pop into a tannning bed for 10 minutes or so. It'll cost a bit (but really isn't horribly expensive if your not trying to get a mega tan), but might be worth it if it lifts your mood! I have a friend who is bipolar and alsa has Seasonal Mood Disorder and her therapist suggested sun therapy. She hits the tanning bed once a week for 20 minutes and since she started she said, she has been doing so much better!

I can TOTALLY relate.
I think it's time for a season change. I'm really tired of the cold and snow. The lack of sunlight. It's dark by 5pm and sun doesn't rise until 8 am. I want sunlight into the evening, not before.
I want to not have to put on 10 layers of clothes, I want to go for a walk and not worry about frostbite.
I too can barely focus on anything.

Definitely SAD. I have noticed on the days when my 5 yo has preschool and I have to actually get out and walk him I feel great all day on the days when I can stay in all day (during sunlight hours) I am much mopier and just well BLAH. Even if it's freezing outside make yourself take a little jaunt through the snow after a few days you will be amazed at the difference.

I feel ya!
I'm in that funk too. Have you tried exercise. I know that I hate to exercise but I feel so good afterward. I have been known to pop a video into the dvd and dance away. I'm such a horrible dancer, but with no one watching I have tons of fun.~~~Lisa~~~

Ann-you are preaching to the choir! Remember on Monday when I was all excited on my blog and had a big announcement, etc. Well, I've totally lost my enthusiasm for what it was! I know what you're going through. I'm not depressed, I'm just a little indifferent to a lot of stuff! LOL. Except if it has to do with my youngest son--then I become a freak and get all nervous! LOL. I think very soon I'm going to go to Barnes and Noble and just walk around by myself. I love doing that.

Oh Ann....my I suggest also the tanning beds. It may cost a little, but, in the end I think it would do you a world of good!
I, personally, am not ready for winter to be over. Give me just a few more feet of snow. Then I will be ready for sun light and warmer weather!!!!
God love you and hope you feel better soon!!!!!

You don't need to be sad to be depressed. You may want to look into that even if you think you're not. www.depression.com
I am in a funk too, and while I do suffer from depression, I think it's made worse by the weather.
I hope you feel better soon.

I can TOTALLY relate!! The sun comes UP about 10am and goes DOWN about 4:30pm here... I hate the winters!!!! And it gets so darn cold in January...ugh...though, this month has been unusually "warm" (teens and 20's...occasionally up to 40!!!).

I'm right there with you.
There is plenty I could do but have no energy or 'get up' to get anything done. I know I am suffering from depression, have for a few years now but after losing my job last February I haven't been able to afford my rx. Lets hope spring gets here soon. Things have to start looking up.
Take Care,
Debbie

I have a doctor who doesnt believe in meds for depression unless REALLY needed. He suggested a walk even a short one and doing something for yourself and not for everyone else. Im like you...I dont really think Im depressed....just bored most days. I think Im going to try getting outside for a little walk everyday....my dog will love me!
